My cockatiel birds tail feathers are mangled. Best I can figure, she did it from dragging them across the cage. Either way. It's ugly.

It's absolutely normal, cockatiel replace feathers every season and you don't have to be worried about it. i have a blue parrot he's really cute but annoying in the morning lol he always wakes me up, he can speak some crazy words like hello, mom, and dad. He taught them because my little son keep saying them. And he is changing his feathers these days which is normal but the most important thing to do during this period is to feed him well and mix some sugar with water to give him a complete diet. I used to feed him sunflower seeds for birds from https://www.kennedywildbirdfood.co.uk/bird-food/sunflower-seeds-and-hearts/ past years and it was really good for him during the changing period.

A cockatiel will lose its tail feathers and some other feathers at least once a year, usually, again, around this time of year. This is called a molt. It is similar to shedding. They will grow their feathers back, it is okay. During this time, tail feathers usually look very weak and mangled. Again, this is normal.

SOURCE: What's your problem? Our bird cage finish is chipping. Can I paint it myself?

My recommendation is to call the manufacturer for paint recommendations and, believe it or not, some cage manufacturers will do that for you. In any event, you must make sure the paint is nontoxic since most birds do scratch it with their beak. After painting Make sure you let it dry completely: Permit the paint to dry for at least 48 hours before moving your bird into the cage, so be prepared to have a secondary cage on hand. Also you should know that although paint may be nontoxic when dry, there are paints may be harmful to your bird if inhaled, so paint it as far as you can from your birds, outdoor area preferred.

SOURCE: What's a travel bird cage?

The travel bird cage is usually a smaller version of a normal bird cage. The travel bird cage does not need to be large, nor does it need to be as durable as your bird cage. Be sure that your bird can comfortably fit in this cage for a short amount of time so that it will not become stressed.

SOURCE: I'm looking to order bird cages online do you have any recommendation?

I suggest you to have a look at http://www.birdcages.com/helpfulinfo.cfm. I personally purchased a parrot perches from their site and I was very pleased with their customer service and their products. If you're looking for a bird cage you'll find it there.

Why have my cockatiels lost most all of there feathers? trying to find out what be causeing it .. I just got them ..

My understanding is these birds get used to one person and when that person is no longer around they pluck their feathers out. A friend of mine had one and when he passed away the bird took out all his feathers. My son took the bird over and in two years the bird would get a few feathers then keep losing them. He did not fully recover in two years.

Have cockatiel when i go to catch him he makes no sounds

You are in the wrong section of Fixya. I can answer the bird question. When frightened or threatened many prey animals go silent to escape. Being unnoticed is a defense. You should be very careful with each footstep you take, so you will not step on it. Sometimes if you put the cage on the floor, the bird will see it better. But do not have oher pets, like cats or dogs around.

When it comes to bird cages, why is size so important?

Cage size is a very crucial element in regards to proper bird care. The tail of your bird should never touch the back or bottom of the cage when sitting on their perch. A very general rule to follow is that the width of the cage should be at least 1-1/2 times as wide as your bird's wingspan. Keep in mind that it is not just your bird(s) inhabiting the cage but you will need a perch and most likely some toys. My personal recommendation is to buy the largest cage you can afford.
