I have a Honeywell smart valve. The pilot flame stays on but not the main burner. I changed the ignitor and the flame rod already. No improvement. Please help! Thank you. Valve number is SV9500M.

Check air filter is not blocked .

Testimonial: "The air filter is clean. In fact, I removed the filter to test for air obstruction. Thanks any way."

if pilot is on and you have no gas check you have power from the room thermostat to the gas valve . It also could be the valve stuck close not letting the main gas through .

SOURCE: My Furnace does not turn on. Installed a new

Assuming the inducer fan and pressure switch are working fine, your next step is to test the voltage coming to the gas valve. There should be 4 wires going to the gas valve, one is black. This is the 24 volt power side. Unplug the molex connection at the gas valve and while the inducer is running test for 24 volts AC. If you get voltage you have a bad valve. If no voltage you have a bad circuit board. Test the safety circuit and roll-out sensors to make sure all switches are closed. Check for continuity across the switches.

Hello,If you cleaned the flame sensor and it is in the pilot flame,Try adding a ground wire from the pilot assembly to any close screw to boost the (pilot on) signal. Also if the valve has been sitting for a while give a tap once during (pilot on) to make sure the diaphram is just not hung up.I would hate to replace the valve and still have the same problem.

When the heat cycle calls for gas there is no ignition is my gas valve bad?

I don't know what kind of furnace you have. But most furnaces have some sort of pilot first than after it is proven than the main gas will come on. Either a standing Pilot with a thermocouple. A hot surface ignition or Spark ignition with a flame sensor. Or a direct fire system where hot surface or spark ignitor start first than all the burners send a 1 sec blast of gas which is proven by the flame sensor if it proves the gas valve stays on.....
In what you have said you have 24 volts to the gas valve and it has not lite. then does the gas valve have a pilot tube???Does it have a thermocouple?? Do you smell gas?? If you don't smell gas then the main part of the valve has not opened. The Pilot valve has to open first and prove before the main gas will come on. I hope this helps. If you still need help repost with the name and model # of the furnace.

Where is a flame sensor located on a laars lg millivolt pool heater

first of all millivolt heaters dont have an actual flame sensor. flame rods are located in the electronic ignition models. The only "flame sensor" millivolt units have are the pilot generator or thermal pile. it also works as a safety, no pilot flame = no dc current, heater wont run

Gas burner wont stay lit

Is it the Pilot, or the main burner that won't stay lit?

The pilot has a little 'flame rod' in the path of the pilot flame, that conducts a tiny current thru the flame, to a detection circuit-- assuring that there is a pilot flame-- If that rod get's dirty, it can cause false trips. Is that any help?- Mack B

Sounds like the Ignitor unplug the ignitor check for continuity if no continuity replace Ignitor or you can usually see the crackon the Ignitor with white residue.

Janitrol GUPS075-3 Furnace burners will not stay lit

The first thing I would do is make sure the flame sensor is clean, this is a metal rod immersed in the burner flame on the opposite side of the igniter. If too much oxidation builds up on it, it will not allow the burner to stay lit. To clean, just turn off furnace and remove flame sensor and clean with steel wool and then reinstall. If this does not solve the problem there may be a problem with the gas valve.

I have a SG14T-JS that has six burners. They all light and stay on for about 10 seconds and then they go out. I cleaned the spark ignitor and cleaned the gas valve connection. Do you have any ideas? ...

Hi there.
Make sure that the gas supply has the same rating and type as written on the nameplate.
Check also the gap of the spark ignitor to the pilot. Spark ignitor also acts as flame sensor for pilot flame proving, it if could not properly sense/ detect pilot flame (in case pilot flame weakens during operation due to low gas supply), it will shut the burners.
Regards.

The oven pilot does not light. The broiler will not work. The only thing that does is the light. GE XL44 range. The burners light and the pilots stay lit.

If you have standing pilots, make sure the pilot for the oven/broiler is lit as well.  When you turn the thermostat up to call for heat, you should see the pilot get larger. That larger pilot flame heats a hydraulic sensor and opens the main burner valve.

My Ruud Furnace wont stay lit

    Hi Bmreid
The problem you describe sounds pretty much like your gas valve is going bad. There is a brand by Honeywell called a Smart Valve which is anything but smart, when the electronics in the valve start going bad the furnace will run great for a day or two and then the next day may not run at all and then an hour later my run and then an hour later may not run again. Very sporadic operating furnace is usually the Honeywell Smart gas valve going bad.
