There is an issue with the purge unit inside the printer.
If you are under warranty you are in luck, but first ask yourself how old is the printer and is it worth fixing and if not get a new one.

As you face the printer, with the scan cover open,in position to remove them, the black cartridge goes on your left and the color on the right.

This happens because ink jet printers have a waste ink reservoir and if its full you need to get it cleaned. I recommend you don't do this yourself because you can permanently damage the printer if you don't know what are you doing. I recommend calling the canon technical support line and asking them where the nearest service center is located:
