SOURCE: CFL bulbs for fan fixture

I had a simple question and you wanted me to pay you to answer it.

I am still hoping to get a CFL lightbulb with socket size E17 to provide more light for my kitchen, but you won't help.

Screw you all.

SOURCE: Lights flicker when turned off by remote

I had this same problem with a Hampton Bay fan with a remote light switch. I call the manufacturer of the of the switch and was told that the model switch I had would not work correctly with CFL bulbs. The problem is with the dimmer function. You either need to change the bulbs to incandescent, or change the remote receiver in the ceiling. Hampton Bay was kind enough to send me a new receiver that works with CFL. The CFL units are white, and the incandescent is black. Hope this helps you.

SOURCE: I have a hampton bay ceiling fan. I put cfl bulbs

The problem is that the CFL lamps, once they are lit, will stay energized by a very low level of current, and the remote obviously is not what we would call a positive off device .. if you use the wall switch and then go back to the remote in the off position , do the lights come on flickering again? You could try another brand of remote.

SOURCE: I have installed the Maestro

Maestro dimmers are not recommended with any CFL for pretty much the reasons you are experiencing. The electronics within the CFLs are probably not letting the power circuitry in the Maestro charge-up - and because of that, it comes as no surprise that adding an incandescent lamp solves the problem. The company makes products that are compatible in their Ariadnia/Toggler & Diva product families, but not Maestro - you just need to make sure the dimmer itself identifies itself as compatible with CFLs.

SOURCE: just purchased GE 15086 smart timer, can I use

The 15086 is a straight timer, so it should work with no problems. CFL bulbs only have problems when run off a photocell switch/timer or a dimmer circuit.

What type of light bulb do I need for a minkaAire ceiling fan. It is about 7 years old

It all depends on which light kit was installed on your fan. As you described the fixture as requiring a "light bulb" meaning a singular bulb, Minka Aire usually uses several different types.

The most common is either a 40-watt or 60-watt Candelabra Bulbs.
(The designation "Candelabra" refers to its screw base. You can buy these in clear or frosted, torpedo or globe with a straight tip or curved. Etc.
Here's an example of a torpedo globe:
Sunlite 60 Watt Torpedo Tip Chandelier Candelabra Base Frost 48 Pack
And here's an example of a Candelabra globe:
Sunlite 60 Watt G16 5 Globe Candelabra Base Clear 48 Pack

Some of their fixtures use a 50-watt Mini-Can Xenon Bulb.
Satco S1914 50W MINI CAN FROSTED 120V

And other use a 3w CFL Medium Base Bulb.
3W CFL Deco 2700K Medium Base

When installing a CFL, Halogen or Xenon bulb, I recommend cleaning the glass with an alcohol wipe to remove any oil from fingerprints. Due to the very high temperatures these lamps operate at, the oil from your fingers will cause a hot-spot on the glass and can shorten the life of the bulb dramatically.

If none of the references I offered match the bulb in your actual fixture, you might be able to more closely match the fixture from one on the following page. The recommended bulb for each fixture is listed in the description of the fixture.
https://www.ceilingfan.com/Minka-Aire-Fan-Lights-s/2082.htm

And as always, NEVER over-lamp a fixture with a bulb rated at a higher wattage than what's shown on the base of the fixture. That is, never use a 60-watt bulb in a fixture rated at 40-watts. The additional heat of the bulb may harden the insulation of the wiring in the fixture creating, causing the insulation to fail and create a fire hazard. Also for fixtures located tight to the ceiling, higher temperatures can dry out the gypsum ceiling material, causing it to crack and deteriorate.

What is the maximum wattage bulb that you can put in the Langston 60" ceiling fan light kit? It comes with 2 - 13 watt CFL bulbs. They are not bright enough, so we would like to make it brighter.

Get new LED lamps with low wattage and high brightness values. Additionally, the LED bulbs last a long time and use far less electrical energy than standard bulbs.

Hunter fan Model 20722 lights flash several times when turned on?

Not the capacitor. If this fan has a remote make sure it's set for incandescent bulb & not CFL bulb. Should be where you install the battery. Also, make sure you're using the correct wattage as it might have a limiter in the fan.

How many years do light bulbs live up too? And also how long can and do they last for then?

I don't know it depends on the light bulb brands and slso which type of a light bulb it is too.
CFL lights last longer than the traditional incadensent ones do. The incandesent one don't last as long because the way on how they were made back then old technology.

New Leviton 'lighted, decorative' switch flickers when off

You cannot use standard electronic dimmer switches with CFL bulbs, only incandesant bulbs! That is why you are getting the flickering.

With CFL's bulbs installed in a light fixture that has a non-flouresant rated dimmer switch on that circuit, you will cause the standard dimmer to fail.

You have to look at the dimmer package (sometimes printed on the back of the dimmer itself too) to see if it can be used with CFL bulbs,as many are not rated for use with anything other than standard incandesant bulbs.

Hope you found this very helpful and best regards!
