Another component which can be responsible for a washing machine drum not turning is the carbon brushes. If the drum is not turning when filled with water or during the spin cycle, this can indicate that the carbon brushes are worn out.

Do check the tension of the belts. The should be fairly tight, but not too much so. Also try to clean the pulley as there may be belt residue on the surface.

SOURCE: How do you know if

  • tilt the machine over and look at the bottom. the belt is there.
  • it will feel loose but that is normal. it is spring tensioned.
  • the noise is probably coming from the water pump, when they are bad they make a loud noise.
  •  turn the pulley around a couple times to see where the noise is coming from.

SOURCE: washing machine drum is very wobbly

* General tips
* Balance the load
* Level the machine
* Inspect the water pump for a blockage
* Inspect the coupling
* Inspect the transmission
* Adjust the drive belt tension
* Check the motor bearings
* Check the drum brakes

The above are possibly the general remedies for this problem.But possible if the problem still persists after this, possibly the drum bearings might have been damaged during the previous heavy vibrations.Please do post comments.Will be glad to help you out.Good luck.

SOURCE: continous loud noise in fast spin cycle

if it sounds like an aircraft taking off, it can be nothing other then the bearing, sorry. this is how they sound before they break completely, most commonly caused by not using high efficientcy detergent. need back half of tub replaced. very labor intensive and must have prior experience becuase whole machine needs to be disassembled

SOURCE: Simpson 700L Top loader washing machine won't spin

If this machine is not belt driven, then more than likely is the motor coupler. To give you an idea of this problem follow this link....

My LG wf_t7050tp top loader washing machine drum not turning during wash/rinse cycle

The drum is controlled by a breaking system at the bottom of it. It is the agitator in the center that does most of the work during wash and rinse. The drum would spin very fast during spin cycle.

Check if the solenoid for brake control is working. Check that the drive belt is not sagged. It should be tensioned correctly.

My Samsung, Diamond Drum, Top loader washing machine, WA13V9 does not fill with water. I replaced the hot and cold water inlet valves and the water pressure switch. Please help.

Generally speaking, In the top control head of most washing machines, there is a water level sensor that tells the machine when the drum has enough water in it and when to start the wash cycle according to what size load it is set for. In the older washers, it was basically like a barometric pressure sensor and had a clear plastic hose connected to it. When the water in the drum put sufficient pressure on the air in the hose, it would activate the switch and start the control timer, shutting of the water and starting the wash cycle. If your washer is new enough to show error codes, it may have some other version of this sensor but it will have to have something to say when enough is enough. Look in the control head on top. Good luck.

My Samsung SWT5V9W top loader spins when you turn the power button on. It still spins during the cycle and 'fights' itself to agitate. Would this be a computer issue?

This can be related to a mechanical issue, Check for free movement of the drum and shaft. check the mountings of the motor,check the suspension and finally the level of the machine, use a rubber mat if the machine moves around.

Replace belt j845 samsung front loader washing machine. how do i get replacement belt on as back and both sides of machine is one piece of metal

There is no belt on a front loader washing machine. The way the drum spins is by a stator in the back of the unit.
