Most likely solenoid in water valve is stuck open if only way to stop water is to cut off faucet. Replace water valve.

SOURCE: Kenmore Series 80 Washer - Water will not stop running

If the wash tub overfills without stopping unless the washer is stopped, this is usually caused by a defective pressure switch or loose air hose going to the pressure switch. The pressure switch is located behind the water level knob inside the console. It is common for the rubber air dome hose to come off and cause a washer to overfill. The console can be accessed the following ways:

If you have removable end caps, the will lift of by prying up from the ear of the console and pulling from the front. Sometimes inserting a screwdriver in the slot in the top of the end cap on the back of the washer and giving the screwdriver a slight twist can help to pop the end cap loose. There will be a philips screw under each end cap that will need to be loosened.

If the end caps are not removable, you will need to slide a putty knife under the front corner of the console where it meets the top of washer on each side and push in to release the retaining clip that holds it in place.

Once you have the console loose, you can flip it up over the back panel to its resting position. Use care not to damage the small plastic hinges that hold the console to the washer.

With the console in its resting position, examine the pressure switch. It will be a round plastic switch located on the left hand side (sometimes located in the center) of the console. There will be an electrical connection and a rubber hose attached to it. More common than not, the rubber hose comes off. If this is the case, reattach the hose to the small nipple on the switch. Use care not to break the nipple. You can take a small zip tie and place it over the hose where it is attached to the nipple and secure it snugly to help keep the hose in place. Do NOT over tighten as you can damage the nipple. The zip tie creates enough resistance the keep the hose from sliding off from vibration over time.

If the pressure switch hose is still attached, double check your electrical connection. If the connector is intact, replace the switch as a last resort. If you can provide me with your model number (located under the lid along the wash tub rim) I can get a part number for you and let you know how much the switch would cost. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Kenmore 80 series won't spin

If it agitates and drains. leaving your clothes clean but soaking wet. It is most likely the transmission/gearbox. the motor is working otherwise it would not agitate. it is stuck in agitate mode and cannot "shift" into spin mode. new transmission will cost 140-170 and takes 2 or so hours to replace depending on skill level. total repair cost parts+labor $300ish you may want to ante up for a new machine at this point. if you cant to the labor yourself.
part# should be this: tho double check using your own model#

SOURCE: replacing the agitator dogs in a Kenmore 80 series washer

Hi, Remove the cap on the agitator and then remove the inside cover. There is a 7/16" bolt under the inside cover. Remove the bolt and the agitator will lift out. Seperate the 2 pieces of the agitator and replace the dogs. You might have to use a flat blade screw drive and punch out the 4 tabs around the bolt hole in the agitator if this applies.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

SOURCE: Kenmore Washer 80 Series - Water cut off

there is a vacuum hose hooked to your water level adjuster. If that hose falls off, which it sometimes does because there is no hose clamp, the washing machine will not know how high the water is and will continue to fill. I found this out after starting my wash before bed and waking up at 6:00 to ankle deep puddles all over my house.
the fix: open the gauge panel by taking off the plastic covers on each side and unscrewing the bolts under the covers (one per side) then the gauge panel will rotate up and allow you access to the hose and other gauges
if the hose is still clamped on check for holes in it and if no holes then you may want to replace the leveler guage

Where is the reset button for a kenmore 80 washer wont stop filling water level

If this is a top loader then the vacuum line has come off of the dashpot or the water level switch is broken. UNPLUG the power-Standing in front of the washer, pry off the plastic trim strips on the left and right of the dash (control panel) Now you'll see a screw at the bottom where the strips mounted, remove ans KEEP the screws, now the dash will lift up and fold back, giving access to the parts.

Kenmore washing machine 80 series won't spin or add water to the tub

Plug on motor (Multi-plug) may have a burnt out wire as it has different speeds. Remove and check the plug (top comes off). Any burnt wire needs to be cut back to clean copper and refitted into plug.

Kenmore series 80 washing machine overfills, it will not start washing, it just fills and runs over

Hi, The first part to check is the inlet valve. If you shut the washer off, will the water stop? If the water continues when the power is off to the washer, change the inlet/mixer valve.
If the water stops filling when the power to thee washer is shut off, the water level switch needs checked.
Please let em know if either of these help so I can assist you further.

Kenmore washer 80 series 110 model not spinning.

unless your washer is over 20 years old, then it wont have a belt. the temperature of the water wont have anything to do with it spinning or not.
need to know if it agitates or drains and just wont spin.
if it agitates but no spin or drain, then you have a bad lid switch.
if it wont agitate or spin, but will drain, then you have a broken drive coupling.
