I effectively used 70% Isopropyl Alcohol on a stray, flea infested kitten, being careful not to get any in her eyes. The majority of the fleas were concentrated around her muzzle. Despite being young and small, the kitten handled the alcohol without issue and it apparently soothed the itchy flea bites too. I covered her in a large drying-off bath towel for her to dry out and keep warm. This was a temporary measure. I had to sprinkle penicillin in her food to cure the flu-like sickness that caused pus and matter to glue her eyes shut after each nap, which was caused by so many flea bites. Any large or long-haired dog would likely be better off after a shampoo in such a treatment for ridding of fleas.

SOURCE: How can I control fleas and ticks in my backyard? I'm scared to let my dog outside; we just got rid of his fleas.

Here is what you need to do: cut all tall grass, trim all bushes and shrubs and rake all leaves under your bushes. Look into buying a lawn insecticide and spray under shrubs, bushes and all shaded areas. Wait a considerable amount of time after spraying (up to 6 hours) before letting your dog play outside.

HO TO GET RID OF FLEES!THEY HURT AND MY DOG IS RIPING FUR OUSE OF IT.

spread garden lime all around the yard to kill the fleas
next use a flea wash on the dog
use a flea destroyer spray in the house and wash all dog bedding and mats that the dog lays on
Take the dog to a vet and get a needle to stop that reaction and while there make sure that it is fleas and not mites
If the problem is so acute , then the humans in the house must also be suffering flea bites

What is eating my dog?

What kind of Dog do you have? Does it live indoors or outdoors or both? Does it sleep in the bed with you? Eating your dog? Meaning bugs, or parasites, and even molds, could be eating the dog. Treatment depends on the thickness of the hair and the dogs weight. I give my dog a pill called Program Advantage, for his weight. It doesn't repel fleas, they fay dead eggs to make more fleas to break the life3 cycle as they only live a day to two if thier normal. Eggs hatch when conditions are right. if the eggs can't hatch your problem is solved for the fleas that found you dog. Treat your yard and bedding and all other places the dog hangs out in and you will beat the fleas and most other pests that can and may be eating on your dog. washing the dog for a few weeks in a row will get things under control. I try to wash him once a week.

How long does it take for frontline to work

It takes about 24 hours to kill the fleas. In the meantime, vacuum your house really well and when you're done, throw the bag in a plastic bag and put it outside into the trash can. If you have one of those vacuums that have a wind tunnel thing, empty it into a plastic bag, outside, and leave it out there in the trash can until trash day. Fleas can live about 30 days without eating. You may need to spray your yard to kill any fleas out there, and also spray your house. If you have a bird, be very careful and maybe let the bird stay with a friend for a few days. Good luck. This is a very bad year for fleas.

How do flea collars work as a form of flea control for my dog?

Flea collars work in one of two ways: by releasing a toxic gas and by being absorbed into your pets dermatological fat layer. The second kind is far more effective.

Do flea shampoos work as a form of flea control?

There is NO "over the counter" solution for the fleas of today according to my Vet! She said it makes her mad they still sell the over the counter stuff because it rarely can eliminate all of the fleas and often does more damage your the animal while the fleas continue to thrive!. Our elderly dog almost died because we used an "in house" treatment rather than "bother" the vet with our "little" problem. Take your animal to the vet first! Please! Monkey is still with us but definitely a half step slower...6f321c05-3aee-4924-81c1-0d2e3d87b1b9.jpg

Are flea collars the most effective way to prevent dog fleas?

They are a great tool in preventing fleas; however when used alone, flea collars are not the best form of protection for your dog. Flea collars are great when used alongside other topical flea control products.

How do I determine if my pet has fleas?

You need to thoroughly examine your pet's skin and haircoat. Fleas are reddish-brown and very fast, so you have to look closely. There may only be telltale flea dirt (flea *****),. Take a moist, white paper towel and rub it on the area. When moist, flea dirt turns a red color.
