Why won't my Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-200 shoot video? "Writing to SD Card" icon flashes while record button is going, but no footage is recorded.

I've tried resetting the camera, re-formatting the SD card, bought a new SD card and then formatted it, took out the battery, took out the card... So far, nothing is working. Any help you might provide is very much appreciated.

Can you format the SD card using the camera itself instead of a computer to do so, if that is what happened?

What capacity SD card is it, e.g. 64 GB? 128GB?

Other possibilities to look at are the type of SD card. SDXC cards said to cause problems with some cameras.

Sounds like a faulty circuit board.
if it's an old camera it will not be cost affective the send it in for fixing.

It might be telling you that the card you have in the camera isn't fast enough to keep up with the demands of a video recording. You need to buy a more expensive card with a faster speed rating.

SOURCE: HOW DO I FORMAT AN SD CARD FOR MY PANASONIC LUMIX

be sure it is not blocked. (it has a locking button on the side) and after that into the menu of the camera look for format reset card ...this is the best way to do it cause it will format it on the way camera will support it ...Beware cause this will delete all your pictures..
usually the format feature will be on the view picture mode...around the option for delete single or multiple picks..
but if this is too hard ..just nsert the card into a card reader in a laptop or computer ...go to my computer folder...it will be seen as a removable storage device ..click right on it ..and than format ...choose to format in fat 32 not in ntfs cause the camera may not read it after that ..
so ...fat or fat 32 will be the mode...and if you have patience do not do it in the quick mode..cause it may cause damages in the long term ..(after a few times)

Sounds like the card is from another camera or was formatted on a computer. If there are pics on it you want to save, download them using a card reader if necessary. Then, format the card in your camera.

My Panasonic DMC-FZ100 will not take videos what is the problem. Do I need repairs? Ifollow the user guide but it just takes a photo of the first frame from which I started to shoot. The screen gives

When was the last time you cleaned it? Try using a DVD cleaner, this should help a lot. After time, dust accumulates and cleaning the dvd will probably help. I had the same problem a year ago, and didn't really clean the dvd. And I didn't use it that much either. But after time, I guess it did get dirty. After cleaning, it worked great, good luck.

My Panasonic Lumic DMC-F3 Will start to record videos, but when I go to stop the recording and save it to the camera, it says "Read Error" and shuts itself down... I don't know what it is. Any ideas? And...

Make sure you are not using an incompatible card like a SDHC card which looks identical. If the F3 can use those cards, make sure you format it in the menu system. If it still fails, try another card, it may be bad. Remove the card and do a short recording to internal memory to check system, if it is capable.

Panasonic DMC-Z28 - the flash button does not call up a flash setting menu and so the flash won't turn on.

Is your Z28 set up to do burst shooting as this will stop the flash working, click on the trash button and turn off the burst shooting. Hope this helps.

When we put an SD card in, onTV we get 3" grey

This is a tv setting problem, not a camera problem. If you have a widescreen tv, it can be set to several width aspects. Check your tv manual for instructions.

How tu use video recording..

Hi,

The picture that I posted shows a TZ3 mode dial. I added a blue arrow to point out an icon on the mode dial.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Turn the mode dial on the camera so this icon is selected.
2. Switch on the camera.
3. Aim the camera at your subject, press the shutter button halfway to focus, then press it fully to begin the video. (Just as you would take a picture.)
4. To stop taking video, press the shutter button fully again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

~When a video starts being taken, its current length will appear on the camera's LCD screen.
~Videos take up more space on the memory card than do pictures.
~If an SD memory card becomes full while recording, then the video will stop automatically.
~Videos can be played back on the camera's "PLAYBACK" mode. They can also be viewed on a TV or downloaded to a computer.

Video

Hi, the best thing you can do is to buy a 1 or 2 Gigabyte SD Card. Taking videos is at about ~100 MByte / minute. So if you take a 1 GIG-SD Card you may take ~10-12 minutes video or at a 2 GigByte SD Card you may take ~20-22 minutes (pure video).( But you may change to still picture in the meantime as you like).

Putting in the SD Card, swith on your camera, choose the video mode and push 'LCD Mode': there you'll see the info "R 22m47sec" on your LCD on the upper right position - for example.
This is the review-function and is your best way to check your video (while choosing the review-position on your wheel and than push the "6 o'clock"=review button on the camera and your video will start.
Have fun, you're also able to use the zoom-in while taking videos.
The DMC TZ1 is a beautiful camera.
