We have replaced the cord previously and it's getting power but no response from the motor
SOURCE: Hoover WindTunnel Canister: Roller brush motor not turning
These motors have a fuse incorporated in the field winding and it sounds like that blew. These motors sometimes overheat at the front bearing and the bearing will melt into the plastic housing. This will cause the fuse to blow. It sounds like that's your problem. You can remove the motor by removing the three screws on the bottom of the powerhead and then check the front bearing for any bubbling or blistering in the plastic housing. The shaft of the motor should turn easily.

if the motor RPM drops dramatically when the noise starts, it is probably a dry motor bushing, if this just started, lubricating the motor may just fix it.
SOURCE: power cord worn out where it enters motor, have to
You have popped the fuse in the plug top or have burnt out the wires in the cable
No matter you have got to shorten and re-wire the cable into the cleaner or get a new lenght of flex and do the same thing.
Some are easy to re-wire some are a pain
SOURCE: Makita HP1640 hammer drill dual mode - 2 hours
Exchanged Makita HP1640 hammer drill for a new one. The 2nd drill did the same thing in under an hour!! Will return for refund. Instructions say the Forward/Reverse switch must be in a full up or down position for the Hammer/Rotary switch to move; well, it is and the Hammer/Rotary switch still stops at a 1/2 way point between modes. Although I can still use the drill, instruction warnings say not to because it may potentially burn out the motor. I'll have to go with a different brand this 3rd time around. It seems to be a design flaw.

without knowing what the model number is you also have to remove the pad assembly and usually you will find some there if all removed you can GENTLY pry the cover halves apart. Go to Makitatools.com with you model number and you can download a breakdown for this tool.
