Guest is right. Clean the contacts, bend the contacts with a small flat head screw driver upwards "GENTLY". This should work. Might have to repeat every couple of months. Forget regular batteries. Use the rechargeable ones. MUST be fully recharged.

Z981 will not turn on

That could be a serious problem with circuit boards (water damage or just some of the fuses get blown), then you will need to replace the system board. They cost around $50 on ebay. But I would buy a working camera for parts like yours with a damaged screen for the same $50, and then take your screen and transfer to that camera. That is the only thing you can do yourself easily with Kodak cameras. Moreover, after that you can sell you camera without the screen for parts, so somebody more experienced will buy it to use your good lens. The bottom line is you will fix it for free or the total expense will be under $20.

Kodak Z981 -- mode dial issue

I have a Z981 myself. I just set my camera as you did (to "A") but did not experience the issue you mention?
Just to be clear, remember that setting the camera to "A" means "Aperture priority", meaning that you can control the lens aperture (with the "jog dial" on the top of the camera) and the camera will automatically set the shutter speed to create a proper exposure. "A" does NOT mean automatic exposure control. You must use "P" (Programmed) mode to make the camera make all the decisions about shutter speed and lens aperture.
I am including a web link to the User Guide for the Z981. You might want to revisit the Guide to make sure you are using the correct settings for your pictures.
BTW, I like my Z981 quite a bit, especially the zoom. I've taken some great pictures with it.

Thin Red Line on Left Side of HP Pavilion DV2000 Lap Top Screen

Majority of time it's the lcd that has a problem which creates the red line, otherwise it's the GPU (video processor).

Try hooking up your computer to an external monitor. If you see the line on the external chances are it's the lcd.

This method of testing isn't fool proof but either way the problem is hardware related.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Screen has lines

Most likely youve damage the lcd screen either by dropping it even though you didnt, but that would be the only cause this problem, line on a lcd screen are usually cause by a broken power current thru screen or a cracked lcd screen maybe it was defective in the first time. I dont know, but line are usually means no power or no information going thru screen.

need to be replaced.

Camera not operating - cannot take picture

alkaline batteries?
please try lithium crv3 or lithium aa's, it may really do that even with a new set of alkaline aa's
if you're using ni-mh, make sure it's recharged and if it is, and it's still doing the same thing.. note that most ni-mh's life span is 300 charging cycles. if you barely use the rechargeable batteries, they can still deteriorate through time. if the rechargeable batteries are new, or say 6 month's old - that means the cam actually needs a repair

Kodak CX7330. turns on but LCD screen is black and won't take a pic

It sounds like a bad connection on the ribbon cable of the LCD screen to the camera's motherboard. The fact that when you physically move the camera around and you can get the screen to then work, tells me something is loose inside.

Good luck!
