Yes, it activates in cold water and dissolves rapidly even in a quick wash.

SOURCE: Kenmore Washing Machine - no cold water coming in

most likely cuase would be the inlet valve
you would need the complete model number to make sure you get the right part for that unit.

SOURCE: Roper washing machine not going through rinse cycle.

Good Morning,
Sounds like your cold water valve is not opening. If you are handy with a Multimeter check the selector switch that you use to set your cold water for good continuity when you activate it. You should have a good steady reading on the meter. If the meter is fluctuating or has no reading at all the switch is bad. If the switch checks out good, check to see if there is voltage to the cold water valve terminals when the machine is calling for cold water. If there is no voltage, you will have to locate the relay or source that supplies this voltage and replace it. If there is voltage the valve is faulty and needs to be replaced.
I hope I helped you today.

SOURCE: Cold water Washes

It is normal for the machine to cycle between hot and cold water when filling even if selecting a cold cycle. The reason for this is because even a cold cycle requires the water temperature to be 78F for the soap to break up efficiently.

During the cold months the water in your pipes is probably less than 78F so the machine will need to add some hot water to bring it up to this temperature. Basically, it is adding cold and then hot water to maintain a temperature in the tub of 78F for cold water cycles.

Hope this helps, please rate my solution.

No hot water for a Maytag topload washer

Turn the water off and disconnect the hot wat hose from the spigot and the machine. There should be a screen filter in one end. Check to see if the screen is clogged. If it is then replace it. If not then replace the water valve

Not able to do hot washing

My LG Toploader (wft753a) has a cold and a hot inlet, and the mechanism inside the machine simply turns the flow from each tap on and off. There is no internal heating element in it.
