Solution: Turn the camera on. Put it into camera mode so the lens
opens. Then push up on the underside of the lens, you'll see the screen
light up and it can now take pictures. This worked for me for a month
or two. The problem is that I have to keep pushing harder and harder to
get it to turn on, and now it turns back off as soon as I stop pushing.
So I have to get a new camera. This is a widespread problem with this
camera. I previously paid Panasonic the $162 to fix the zoom freezing
up. I'm not paying again.

Go into the menus and find live view, activate it. Exit menus and then press the set button. You will now be able to use the LCD. The owners's manual can give you more info as to how to focus.

The memory card must be in it. If you take a picture without the card in it, it will show for a few seconds then go black. There must be a memory card in order to save the pictures.
Testimonial: "Thank You! Haven't got a memory card for it yet was worried there was something wrong with it. "
