Make sure you are diluting the fabric softener before putting it into the dispenser drawer. Full strength softener will sometimes stain clothing that's why in the owners manual they always tell you to dilute it first before adding ,plus it last a lot longer and is just as affective... IT'S NOT A STAIN, looks like you bleached the color out by accident, lots of things other than bleach will take the color out of fabrics.

Prepare Your boot for Cleaning
Start by gently rubbing the surface of your shoe or boot with a soft, dry washcloth. This helps to restore the surface of your shoe.
Remove Dry and Ground In Stains.
Use your pencil eraser to rub any areas of dry staining. The eraser helps to life out any dried dirt and debris from beneath the surface of the shoe.
Smooth the Surface of Your Shoe.
Using your metal brush, to brush the surface of your shoe or boot using a circular motion. This helps to smooth the surface that's been roughened by using the eraser. It's also good for removing scuff marks from shoes
