I have the s gauge polar express set. I do have the smoke switch on. It takes a long time to even get it to smoke a little. How much smoke fluid should I drop in the smoke stack?

No more than 1/2 teaspoon at a time. Less is more.

Hello just opened polar express ready to run freight set o gauge Transformer on solid green light lights whistle smoke work All switches to on Train won't budge Any tips Thanks

The instructions are sometimes a bit vague: for example, once switched on the train needs to sit and charge before it runs, but that is not very evident from the instructions and many folks spent some frustrating minutes wondering why the train wouldn't move.

Put smoke fluid in the wrong place on Lionel polar express train, got all the controls wet on main engine

Remove the shell. Soak up as much as you can. Leave out to dry or use a hair dryer on low until controls are dry.

How can I fix smoke problem on polar express

Most Lionel engines have a small slider switch which can turn off the smoke generator. Check to see that the switch is in the ON position. Check the engine manual (available from Lionel's website) for the location of the switch.

Also, if the smoke generator is always on and no fluid had been used in the generator, it will eventually burn out. Replacement smoke generators are available from Lionel.

Polar Express locomotive will not smoke with smoke fluid in stack and smoke switch on.

You may have to check if there is power to the heating element. You can also check to see if there is too much fluid. You can also put the engine in neutral and tap the chimney hole a few time to kind of "prime" the smoke unit.
