The messages were saved by hitting #3 to skip and stay on the answering machine, When I switch out the UUNIDEN for my new Panasonic phone system I do not want to lose messages
While I can't say for the phone model in question, I will attempt to enlighten you generally speakig on the matter of message storage. There are 2 types of storage systems and both are commonly used in phone systems, so you will want to do some google research and find out which one you have in your phone unit. ..... volatile memory is temporary so its data will be lost when it losses power ie power cycled and nonvolatile memory sometimes referred to as flash will keep data even after being power cycled. Hope this helps a little, I'm sorry I can't say specifically for your unit.

Try disconnecting the power from the back of the base. Then press and hold the delete key while reconnecting the power. When power comes back on press play one time. If that does not work, your unit needs to be replaced.

The default security code is "80". If you have not reset that code, you will use 80.
This is all from the manual:
1) Call your telephone number and wait for the system to answer. If the answering system is off, it will answer after about ten rings and sounds a series of beeps.
2) During the greeting or the beeps (if answering system is off), press 0 (zero) and enter your security code within 2 seconds.
3) The answering system announces the current time and the number of messages stored in memory. You hear "To play incoming messages, press zero-two. For help, press one-zero" followed by a beep.
Then the manual lists all the remote commands. If you need those, you can go to uniden.com and download a manual.

The brillian people at Uniden don't feel it necessary to provide this type information in their manuals. You have to trial and error to find it, but what can you do. All you have to do to reset the base unit itself is to unplug the power, then while holding down the delete key, plug it back in. Hold the delete button down until you hear a beep, which indicates it has reset. Now you can readd handsets and they will start at 1.
