The sequence to throttle adjustment is to adjust to high speed first ( screw closest to the air filter) turn in in or out until it fires evenly at rpm and picks up rpm easily
now hold the throttle at full throttle and slowly idle down while adjusting the idle screw ( closest to the butterfly) to maintain engine running
the screw should have been turned all the way in then back out 1 1/2 turns before starting the engine
keep slowing the engine while making very small adjustment until it idles at rpm slow enough that the chain is not driving
If you get it low but it stalls out , then adjust the throttle stop screw to maintain idle rpm
Correct adjustment is from this point the rpm increases rapidly with out falter ( fine tune high speed screw to achieve that)
and when left to idle will do so evenly without driving the chain
all of this working is depending on the carby having new diaphragms , needle height adjustment correct and the system cleaned out
SOURCE: chain saw runs on full choke and a little on fast
Sounds like a carburetor issue. Chain saws get the &**^% beat out of them during normal use.
This may just be a fuel jet adjustment if the carburetor has one. Sometimes there is a low speed jet and a separate high speed carburetor jet. Check for both. Also, check to see if the carburetor is loose - like I said, chain saws usually see some pretty rough service and things can loosen up.
If no joy on the above, you may need to clean the fuel tank, the fuels line, and the carburetor. This requires taking the carb apart so if you aren't familiar with this kind of work, take it to a shop.
Also, make sure the fuel mixture being put in the saw is correct
SOURCE: the saw starts and runs on fast idle but dies when
It sounds like it is flooding when you use the throttle, both are connected. Turn the idle back all the way until it dies, then try turning it a 1/4 turn the other direction.
Testimonial: "your suggestion worked however Iam having trouble getting it to idle"
SOURCE: need to adjust hi lo idle settings but unsure how
If idle speed is the only problem, there is a screw (not the two jet screws H and L) for this purpose. Turn the screw CCW until the chain stops turning, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!
SOURCE: hit the throttle it quits running . it starts
Conected to the rubber induction boot is the impulse hose, it is a short curled pipe, make sure this has not split and is conected to the two nipples on the carb flange.
