SOURCE: Cricut Expressions Machine error

  1. Make sure your cricut is off when you plug it into your computer via usb.
  2. Make sure your usb cable is plugged directly into the machine, and not to a usb hub.
  3. Start up the DS Once the DS is fully loaded, choose HELP > UPDATE FIRMWARE.
  4. On the cricut machine, hold down the STOP button. Keep holding it down and briefly hold down the power button. Keep holding down the stop button and in about 3-5 seconds, you will hear a beep. That means you are good to go.
  5. On the "update firmware" screen on your computer, select the model you have and then click "begin updating now"
  6. Go and read a magazine or make a cup of tea because it takes a while to update. If it goes really fast (no matter how cool your computer is) it means it did not install properly and you will probably have to do it over again.

Hope this helps you.

SOURCE: My Cricut Expression keeps turning on and off.

I have one of these machines stripped down on the bench now with this problem. I have located the fault to a power relay which is sealed but must have burnt contacts as it is not passing the power to the machine to power up. I am still looking for a source of 18 volt coil relays with 10 amp contacts to fix this one. If not I may have to modify the circuit to overcome this problem.

SOURCE: I have a cricut expression

there is a relay on the under side of the keyboard that goes out. ther is a release on the left side of the keyboard on the cricket expression that lets you remove the keyboard for a tall cutter or something. Turn the keyboard over and take the back off.there is a square area that protrudes from the back of the key board. that's where the relay is. it can be replaced. or bypassed.

I have 2 Cricut Expression machines. I want to keep the newest one. How can I tell which one that is

from what i can tell, the cricut expression has dials and the cricut expression 2 has a touch screen. Also, I believe the newest one is a little larger in size.

I have a Cricut expression 2. It turns on but I'm unable to get the home screen to come on. The screen just freezes on Cricut expression 2

  • Turn on the machine, with no cartridge installed. Roll the Speed, Size and Pressure dials all the way down to the lowest possible setting on each.
  • Grab the blade assembly with two fingers and pull the carriage gently all the way to the left. Behind where the carriage usually sits is a red button. Press and hold the button for three to five seconds and release.
  • Go back to the three dials marked Speed, Size and Pressure, and roll each one all the way up and down three or four times.
  • Press the Cut button, then turn off the machine. Let the machine sit for 15 to 20 minutes to clear the memory.
  • Load a cartridge, turn the machine back on and try it out. If you are still experiencing problems, you may have a defective machine. Return it to the manufacturer with the original receipt.

When using a design in Cricut Craft Room, and select cut, my Expression 2 begins, but does not complete, the cut. The arm moves to the paper and then makes a croaking sound and then nothing.

Search cricut.com for support faq go to expression 2 search format and reset. Watch the video on format and reset and do as it says. Calibrate when it's finished. If this doesn't work re download ccr after deleting it from your computer.

Cricut expressions 2 pressure wheel

You say you have a Cricut expression 2 but you say quote"...of how to reset the machine including the rolling of the dials up and down three times!" The problem I have in sorting your problem is that the Cricut expression 2 does not have wheels which work the speed, pressure and size. If you have an expression version 1 machine then there would be 3 wheels on it to adjust the speed pressure and size. Obviously if you have had the machine for 4 years it is out of warranty and I am not sure just what the person did to "fix" your problem. I do recollect a video on you tube with a similar problem however looking at the video he mentions that once it is fixed the blade housing should bounce up if you push it down, does your housing now do the same as the video. In the video Evan did he mentions at the end that the soldering of these wires may not take the first time so this may be a point to check as he mentions that it was travelling the machine that caused the wires to break in the first place. The youtube.com video I am speaking of is http://youtu.be/n7LJnfPdd08, by Evan Craftman. I am assuming that when you called cricut support you called the UK support line. I often speak with support in the USA being from New Zealand it is an overseas call however I have found them very good. If you are able to I would like to see a video of just what your machine is doing. If you dont want to post it here you could email me [email protected].
I do feel very sad that you don't wish to try the Explore as I find it a surpurb machine. I have had my Expression version 1 since early 2009, I have added every Cricut to my family of cricuts and own 3 expression 2's and now an explore. If you had bought a computer 4 years ago and you currently took it to a repair person to get it fixed I am sure their first response would be it would be better to get a new one. Your computer boards appear to be fine maybe you need to take the video to the person who did your fixing as most people who do this sort of work would not understand how the machine runs. I hope this helps and you can get your Cricut working again. If all else fails you may be able to buy a 2nd hand one cheep and have your repair person change the carriages completly.

My cricut expression keeps turning on and off. Resetting does nothing since it won't stay off or on long enough to actually reset. Any ideas?

I would contact cricut because you may have a defective machine. I had an expression and cut one thing then it froze. We did the reset and that did not resolve the issue. Cricut had me send my machine back and they shipped a new one. Mind you they will put a charge on your credit card only to protect themselves. You just ship yours to them the way they tell you in the one you receive. Let me know if you do not have their contact number.

Dials not working

You may want to try resetting your Cricut to see if that fixes the problem. To reset the Cricut machine, turn the unit off for five minutes. Roll all the dials all the way up and all the way down five times each. Turn the Cricut back on. This is the manufacturer's reset process. Good luck!
