Hi,
You can safely remove the outer shell of a normal microwave oven, by removing the 4, 6 or 8 screws which hold it in place.
It will then be up to you how you repair the dent.
Unless you are very talented, it's actually unlikely that you will be able to remove the dent, although you might be able to make it look a lot better.?
Before you begin any work, make sure you have unplugged the unit from the mains-supply.
Once the cover is off, the potentially dangerous & possibly life-threatening parts are exposed.
DO NOT make any attempt to touch, poke, probe or in any way interfere with the inner-workings.
If you drop a screw, washer or anything else into the inner-workings, taking great car to only touch the outside, physically roll or turn the whole oven over & allow the parts to fall out by themselves.
Always be safe.
Best of luck.
Testimonial: "Thank you for your time and for this option. I read that for getting dents out of stainless steel appliances (not specifically microwaves) that you can use the heat from a blow dryer, or dry ice and that the dent will pop back to normal (or close). Is this insane? Is this crazy to try on a microwave? I'm asking because I would rather not open it. Thank you."
I think that's an excellent plan.
Try it, especially because it doesn't involve any dismantling or exposure to any risk at all.
Do remember that the metal will stay hot for a while.
Also, after I closed my original post, I though of the 2" vacuum/suction grips which you sometimes see very cheap.
If you can get one of them to grip onto the dent, you might be able to pull it out.? Take care not to overdo it & make it bulge outwards.
Best of luck.
Wow! Thank you so much for this!

One way is to separate the door panels, bang out the dent from the other side, then burnish the area.
Otherwise, you can replace the damaged piece. You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.
Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here.
If she's really the forgiving type, maybe she'd settle for your placing over the dent a little magnet or sticker that says, "I love my wife"? *GRIN!*

The best repair is to take apart the door panels, bang the dent pout from the other side, then sand and polish it smooth.
Otherwise, there may be some dent filler you can use, then sand and smooth it.

SOURCE: Is my dented microwave safe to use?
Hello carillon553,
If you haven't compromised the door opening or inner compartment, then it is more than likely OK to use. The magnetron ( which generated the microwave energy ) has a waveguide that focuses that energu into the cooking compartment and a small dent to the cabinet normally has no impact on its safety.. Hope that helps..
If you are overly concerned with that, then you would need a technician that has an RF Power Meter to check it.. If it were me, and the dent was small.. I would just use it...
Regards,
Rick
SOURCE: Should the door creaks
I'd say you're right that the damage is causing the problem when the material expands.
This will eventually wear away the material and could lead to other problems unless you lubricate the tight spot regularly.
As much trouble as it is, I think returning it will mean less trouble than you may face otherwise.

If the door seal is damaged or out of alignment, there is a chance of leakage, which can cause burns, damage to the oven or even a fire hazard.
