SOURCE: Changing the main hose on a Dyson DC15 Animal
Hi Bob.
If you look carefully where hose & elbow jount enter machine you will see a slot.
Rotate elbow so that lug on elbow aligns with slot & pull off.

Hi Ian,
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC15. If the cleaner doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, it's likely to be due to a blockage in the machine, or because the filter needs a wash.
The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:
http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=815&product=DC15-ANIMAL
In normal use, the filter should be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.
This should resolve your concern about the cleaner's performance - however, if the machine continues to shut off when stood in the upright position, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly so we can help. You can call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).
Kind regards,
Jack

SOURCE: My dyson dc15 beeter bar won't turn on
Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC15. Your machine is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if something - for example, a rug fringe or a shoelace - jams it. If the brushbar won't rotate, you may simply need to reset the cleaner.
To do this, please follow the steps shown in the video below - ensure you have the machine reclined into the vacuuming position before testing it, as the brushbar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright.
This should resolve the issue, but for any further assistance or advice, please get in touch with us directly by calling free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can help.
Best wishes,
Jack

Testimonial: "Thank You for your support, I too had those severed wires from circuit board to lower unit. We removed 2 screws exposing circuit board located on right side when looking at vac from front. And 2 more screws opening where handle connects to ball & there were 2 broken very thin wires. We replaced with some speaker wire & all is clean in the house again. I truly love this vacuum this has been the only issue in the 5+ years that I have used it daily. Well worth the investment. "
