Hi Ruby Welday, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?

    because
you did not say if it works, at all, or not.
    or what setup means.
no PC stated, DEL WHAT IS IT , model exactly
    trying what does trying mean?
    new wireless, old, ?
first is fresh batteries in the keyboard and mouse,
if new in the box, RTM did you read the instructions first?

or are you doing advanced setups.
here are the base setup rules,
    day1. new.
    1: fresh batteries installed.
2: plug in USB dongle. for new mouse/kbd.
3: boot PC, if windows (is it or linux?)
4: boot and get the PC on the internet first.
if that takes a real mouse and key board to do that so be it. real means USB wired.
if on the internet then plug and play works
and finds the new keyboard and start working.

I unplugged the usb connector and took out the batteries for both the keyboard and mouse for 30 seconds. Then I plugged everything back in.

SOURCE: Hotkey mode

This just worked for me. Using your PC keyboard, boot up to the PC first and then power up your mac. Hit the scroll lock twice and IMMEDIATELY hit enter. You have to go fast- click-click-click with no hesitation and it works great. I still can't toggle the hot keys to set up my mac keyboard, which I prefer using, but I'm assuming it takes the "right" timing on the keys. I'll keep trying.

Good luck!

SOURCE: I have a Microsoft Wireless Desktop Receiver 3.1

I have the same system. Mouse can be ordered, but not easily. Make sure mouse is not working.... i almost made tour same mistake. In my case, the mouse plug (from computer to wireless receiver) had become unhooked. All i could see is that mouse was communicating with wireless receiver but appeared to be frozen. If you can reset receiving channel, and see that receiver acknowledges presence of mouse, you may have my same problem. Also, if you can see that the laser light is working, mouse is probably ok, and batteries are good.

There are little connection buttons on the mouse, keyboard, and sometimes the reciever, press those.

Replace the batteries with new ones.

Wireless keyboard does not work and it is not the batteries.

Check to see if the network has some other device trying to use the same electronic name. You might need to do the set up all over again.

When all else fails -- in DRASTIC states -- do a computer reset, in system tools -- which resets ALL hardware to factory reset.

If you want to check if the software is installed correctly and the keyboard is working fine try using the multimedia key. If you are able to use the multimedia keys for reducing and increasing the volume or mute the sound that means it is working fine.

If you are trying to configure the Favorite keys then you will have to select the buttons from the software and link it to the particular program of your choice.

Open the software application

Select the button that you want to configure

Click on the browse button to select the program of your choice to open with that button.
