I have 5 of these Bunker Hill/ Harbor Freight 60 led solar powered security lights. Inside is a 5 cell 6vdc rechargeable battery which tends to fail after 4-5 years of daily recharges. When mine failed, (Note: I did check with a voltmeter that the solar cell was sending a charge to the battery pack during daylight hours) the light would only turn "on" for a second or two when detecting motion and then turn off.
You can purchase a replacement 6v battery cell or modify to lithium ion :
from ebay: which is a 5 cell 1.2 volts per cell almost identical battery as stock battery:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/6V-800mAh-1000mAh-Ni-Cd-AA-Rechargeable-Battery-Pack-SM-2Pin-Plug-USB-Charger-/372676177719

Lithium ion: I used 2 x 18650 batteries (which I purchased from a seller on ebay), ( I removed the tabs from the old batteries after disassembling them) Tape the two lithium batteries parallel together laying them with positive and negative post beside each other.
I soldered the removed/salvaged tabs onto the new lithium batteries: I soldered the salvaged tabs onto the positive end of one battery to the negative end of second battery, (do not leave a large ball of solder on the connection as the batteries are a tight fit in the battery case lengthwise), on the opposite end of the batteries from which you just soldered the tabs on, I took the black and red leads from the old battery cell and attached the red lead to the positive post and the black lead the negative post, now you have a lithium battery cell that should have a voltage of 7.2-7.4 volts (when you check the voltage with a voltmeter at the red and black leads), connect the new battery back to the security light connection in the battery case, slide the lithium batteries inside the center of case making sure you do not damage any wiring in the process, reinstall cover and 4 screws, wait for nightfall, and enjoy a modified brighter light which should shine for a much longer period of time than the original battery pack.

You might be able to make your own by picking up 2 lithium ion batteries at home depot. I only saw the Hampton bay solar cells there.

I am having the same problem, but am going to try putting in new rechargeable batteries. If you take the lights apart, you should find a rechargeable AA battery. I'm going to try it tonight and will let you know if it works.

SOURCE: I bought a new 9.6V

  • A 9.6 volt battery should read around 10 volts or higher after a full charge. If your battery only worked for a minute and has 4 volts then you received a bad battery and it should be returned for a properly functioning battery. Or your battery charger is not charging properly.
  • It's simple enough to test. Get a volt meter and set it to DCV (DC Volts). Now turn the charger on as if you were going to charge the battery. Now place the positive terminal in the positive side of the connector on the charger. Do the same with the negative side. If it does not read AT LEAST 9.6 Volts (probably more like 10.2 - 10.5 Volts) then the charger is not putting out enough to charge the battery. A new battery charger will be needed.
  • If the volt meter reads anything lower than 9.6 then the battery is bad and you will want to get it exchanged.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

regards, Tony

SOURCE: outdoor umbrella with solar leds with switch, doesn't turn on

If you connect to solar panel for the lights to go on do the lights go out at night? If so, and the they do not light when hooked to the batteries then the batteries may have no charge and may also not be holding a charge. Put in new batteries to test.

SOURCE: I purchased hampton bay 4 pack solar led landscape

Sun burns out the photocell in lights. Hampton Bay uses cheap components in their Fans and Lighting all made in China for a fraction of what you paid. Dont waste time calling gpwarranty.com they dont care.
Best option..buy a good set and dont buy them from Home Depot, Hampton Bays primary retailer, sort of voting with your wallet.

Bought a coma solar powered led motion sensor light model no. 052-7808-4. The light no longer works. where can I get a new battery pack???

Expensive if bought from the item manufacturer as a spare part

Google search "replacement battery for coma solar powered led motion sensor light model no. 052-7808-4 might produce results.

Most battery packs are fairly standard but first you need to remove it in order to identify it - voltage, type, capacity in order to search further or to wade through the huge list on sites such as ebay.

What kind of batteries are used in solar street lights?

Nowadays, LED Street lighting is a fresh new alternative to traditional street lamps such as LPS, HPS, or MH Street lights. Also, it provides a multitude of advantages over a conventional incandescent light. Moreover, LED Street lights are environmentally friendly, energy efficient, and cost-effective. Solar lights can use a different kind of battery such as Lead-acid battery and SMF, lithium-ion battery or Li-ion, lithium-ion battery phosphate or LiFePO4. However, if anyone is looking for sustainable energy products at a reasonable cost, Please Visit here: http://www.citizensolar.com/

Charger was working fine but now no longer turns on

If under warranty have it repaired/replaced. If not under warranty then some basic troubleshooting. Most likely a battery issue howerver;

To test the fencer output you can power the fencer from either a standard 6V lantern battery (6V fencer) or a standard 12V automobile battery (12V fencer). You need to rig wiring observing polarity.

To test battery, remove and check voltage with digital volt meter.
A fully charged 6V SLA battery should read 6.2V minimum and a 12V should read 12.4V minimum. If a 6V battery measures 4 volts or less then battery has likely failed. Likewise if a 12V battery measures 10 volts or less it has likely failed. Before replacing a suspect failed battery, connect the battery to any standard 6V/12V automobile charger and see if it will take a charge. After the charging period;

  • If battery takes a charge, reinstall back in fencer and see if fencer output is hot. If fencer fails output, repair/replace fencer. Else verify the fencer is charging the battery. While battery is installed in fencer measure battery voltage with a digital volt meter. Typical minimum voltage is 13.5V for 12V and 6.7V for 6V. If fencer fails to meet minimum battery charging voltage, likely the fencer solar charging system has failed, repair/replace.

  • If battery fails to charge, likely battery is end of life. However fencer could still not work. Test fencer with alternate power source (see previous tests). If fencer ok, replace battery.

Regarding the BLS452: 1 What is the maximum (electrically driven) rotation? 2 What are the pulse widths for the maximum rotation? 3 What is the current consumption on 6V? 4 Is it digital, & if...

Some of the information you're requesting is at the following link.

http://www.helipross.com/futaba-bls452-brushless-ep-car-high-torque-servo.html

The current consumption will be dependant on the loading of the servo.

Digital Servos give and quicker resoponse to your input and provide a higher torque in a shorter period of time. Full explanation st the following link.

I would like to rewire a solar security light (motion activated) to stay on at dark. Brand westinghouse

The light will only stay on as long as the battery lasts. My guess is that will not last all night. What you can do is buy a light sensor switch (or even a light sensor socket adaptor is available to save you from having to wire it in) to keep a light on during the night. You can use a CFL or even an LED lamp to save electricity, but it is unlikely that a solar-charged cell will power even one of thes all night long.
