We have a pressure cooker and you put about a 1/2 inch of water in the bottom, make sure the rack is in bottom under food. then put lid on tight and make sure the seal around the inside of the lid is still soft and movable this means it will seal properly and not leak out the hot air. once the steam starts to build up when it has been on the burner for a couple of minutes, steam should be coming out the center of the lid and there is a little valve that has a pin in the middle of it that will lift up when the pressure is high enough to cook the food, some times I have to tap it with a fork, once the little pin is sticking up by its self put the pressure cap on, ours has a little black stick in the middle that rises as the pressure builds and with practice I know that when I can see 2 rings on the black center then the potatoes are cooked. they can be a very great time safer but dangerous if not used correctly. once the desired amount of rings have raised turn off the heat. NOW DO NOT OPEN until the little silver pin lays flat in the lid again then you know the pressure has reduced enough to safely open the cooker. always open away for your face as it will still be very hot. hope this helps.

How to set the minutes to cook on a Cuisinart 600 pressure cooker

Hello, Andi -

From your question I can only guess that you do not have the instruction manual for the pressure cooker.

You can find the manual for the CPC-600 Cuisinart pressure cooker through the Cuisinart home page:
https://www.cuisinart.com/

Click or tap on Search. Enter the words "pressure cooker" (no quotation marks) in the Search box and click or tap on the magnifying glass icon.

The first pressure cooker listed in the search results will be the one you want (the CPC-600.) Choose that.

You will be brought to a description of your pressure cooker model. On that page, above the text describing the pressure cooker, you should see a link for Manual. Click or tap on that.

The PDF document for the Instruction Booklet will come up. You can download and save the instructions so you can have it for future reference and so you can print it. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader software (free.) When you save the PDF file to your Documents folder, be sure to give it a name you can find again - maybe: Cuisinart CPC-600 Pressure Cooker Manual.

Be sure to read through the manual before using the pressure cooker. The Operating Instructions begin on Page 5.

Best wishes.

Looking for an instruction manual for my pressure cooker: Tfal Clipso Easy

T-Fal has a number of their pressure cooker manuals on the support page: http://www.t-falusa.com/instructions-for-use/Products/Non-electric-pressure-cooker/csc/NonElectricPressureCooker . None are labeled the Clipso Easy. There are the Clipso, Clipso America and the Clipso Induction Compatible Pressure Cookers. On web sites advertising these models, they are all "Easy" pressure cookers with one-handed operation.

Please check the pressure cooker for a product number to find the correct manual. The different Clipso pressure cookers are very similar. The direct link to the Clipso manual is http://www.t-falusa.com/medias/?context=bWFzdGVyfHJvb3R8MTUyMTE3M3xhcHBsaWNhdGlvbi9wZGZ8aGZjL2hlZC85NDY0ODMyMzkzMjQ2LnBkZnxhMWU4NWQwODhiZWUwZGI4YmY1ZDE2MzA4YWNmN2E2YTUyMGM0YmFkOGRjZTQzNzIyODBjZTBkMGY2NTZhZTVi .

I hope this helps.

Paula deen pressure cooker. Can I use it for slow cooking? What is temp of keep warm? Could put lid on loose. Also, timing notches are mixed into keep warm button. I overcooked my first batch

A pressure cooker is NOT anything close to a slow cooker. The cooking philosophy are practically totally opposites. A pressure cooker basically cooks your food in a fraction of time because it is under pressure. A slow cooker takes hours.

The whole idea of using a pressure cooker is that it is sealed and applies pressure to cook the food faster. The lid needs to be sealed for the pressure cooker to operate properly. It is frequently referred to as "infusion" cooking now days.

You need to read the instruction book that came with the pressure cooker. Pressure cookers usually cook for less than an hour--my homemade pressure cooker spaghetti sauce is cooked in less than 30 minutes. They are nice and were very popular long before anyone thought of microwaves and slow cookers. However, there are some precautions to be taken. There must be water or liquid in a pressure cooker. The rubber seal needs to be cleaned frequently and, when the rubber seal warps/stretches and no longer seals, it needs to be replaced. There are also certain foods that CANNOT be cooked in a pressure cooker like rice, dry beans, etc. The pressure control valve operates to regulate the amount of pressure and releases extra pressure otherwise the unit would blow up (very dangerous!). Most pressure cookers (required on all new ones) have a small rubber emergency stopper that will "blow off" in case the pressure is too high. I've seen this happen and my mother cleaning potatoes & meat from the ceiling!
