SOURCE: Brother SE 270D Cassette threader

I too have a christmas gift causing headaches - loopy embroidery. But at least this one I found a work around for... I thread the cassette according to the arrows but when I get to "6" I loop up around the left side and over the top of the bend but DON'T go far enough to cut the thread. I leave about 4 or 5 inches loose and hold the end at the top-right of the thread cassette at about the 2 o'clock position. I push the cassette down into the machine normally and right about when the 6 is below the window the thread will cut leaving you holding the left over piece. Continue pushing down until click and needle will thread. Have not had any threading problems since learning to leave a tail on the thread. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: the needle threader has stopped working

Check you needle size. On my machine the needle threader does not work with the smaller needles, 9/65 and 11/75. The eye of the needle appears to be just short of the hook on the needle threader. I have no problems threading needles in larger sizes.
Good luck,

SOURCE: automatic needle threader on brother se-350

Hi - first, make sure that you raise the needle to as far up as it will go. When you thread the machine, make sure you pass the thread through each number along the path - there is a hook on the threader mechanism that is really easy to miss. It is always a good idea to refer to the book when you are having a problem.

You might also try changing the needle. The threader has a teeny hook that goes in to the eye of the needle from behind, grabs the thread, and pulls it back thru the eye of the needle.

The threader can go out of alignment. If you got the machine last fall, it should still be under warranty. You can call Brother and ask where you can take the machine for repair. Or, you can go to Brother's website and look for information that might be helpful.

Good luck,
Ginny

SOURCE: Broken needle threader?

Hi - welcome to FixYa. I have this machine, and unfortunately, the cassettes can break. If the threader worked when you first got your machine, I would suggest buying a new cassette (even if your threader is working). A second cassette is very handy because you can thread your next color in the extra cassette before the machine stops for the next color change - when the machine does stop, just put in the second cassette, and thread the other with the next color - speeds things up alot. And, if one of the cassettes does break, you aren't sitting in a puddle waiting for a new one.. You can find the thread cassettes for sale on a variety of sites - this is where I buy mine:

http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/Browse_dept_items.asp?Store_id=492&page_id=17

Some of the 270Ds came with a spool pin - look in your manual for a picture and for the instructions for installing and using the spool pin. You can use it for spool of thread that are too large for the cassette and I think you can leave it installed on your machine all the time. If you don't have your manual, leave a comment and I'll look mine and check the instructions.

Hope this helps. If you have a minute, a rating (good or bad) tells me if the information or solution I provide is helpful to anyone who visits FixYa.

If you would like me to write a tip on salvaging an embroidery project that has been pulled into a birdsnest, leave a quick comment and I'll add the tip. Thanks everybody, and good luck. Please feel free to comment if you need more help or have more questions.

SOURCE: AUTO THREADER CAME OUT

When you activated the threader, the needle was down and the threader came off or broke.

If it is not broken, you may be able to push it back into place.

Turn off the power and tip the machine back on some towels so it does not slip and with a flash light check the area where it fits and see if you can get it back into position.

If not, will have to thread the needle the old fashion way.

Check with your Brother dealer to see if they can look at the machine while you wait.

They may be able to get it back together or they will have to replace the threader.

It is possible they will have one in stock, or they may have to order it.

My needle threader on my machine pinged off when I was sewing its a brotherFS130QCi have the metal bit will it go back on

Hello, Jacqueline -

I am not familiar with the Brother FS120QCi sewing machine. Nor have I been able to find ANY information online about that model of sewing machine.

Therefore, I suggest you locate the authorized Brother sewing machine repair business where you reside, make a phone call, and as one of the repair technicians there about the needle threader for your model of machine.

From information I found on other models of Brother sewing machines with needle threaders, the needle threader is an all-metal or metal and plastic piece which affixes to the machine. You can see images of some sewing machine needle threaders here:

Automatic threader doesn't work

The automatic needle threader is very tiny and easily bent or damaged; however, it is designed not to turn if needle is not at its most upper position to protect the threader. Turn the hand wheel until the needle is at the highest position. If the needle is not aligning with the threader hook, you will need to replace it. And you can replace the needle threader hook if it is bent. I hope this helps!Jimmy
