SOURCE: No power. Possible power supply issue.
If the repairman guarantees that the problem is the power supply and will agree not to charge you if that is not the problem, then by all means go for it. Most TVs it is what is called the Power supply Unit, or PSU, and the part alone costs well over $100...

We have the same problem and purchased a power supply to see if it would fix the problem. It didn't. We are now in the process of buying the main logic board and we will let you know if this fixes the problem. It seems like it is in sleep mode but doing the steps to get the tv out of sleep mode does not work.

Hi.
If the TV does not start with the new audio board, and if it does start with the old one, then the audio board that you recently purchased is defective.
About the board : 0500-0507-0230; that is the power board (PSU). If you could see the Vizio logo, that means that TV started, and that the power board was OK without need for testing. When the power board is defective, either the TV does not give any sign of life, or the TV goes in standby mode from start and does not wake up. In that case the led stays blinking to warn you that there is an incorrect voltage from PSU.
If the TV is freezing with Vizio logo, that means that at most the faulty part is the main board.
Also, you say that there is no backlight. No backlight means that the screen is completely dark. If there is no backlight you won't be able to see the logo or any other picture. If there is no backlight, then the problem is usually the inverter.
Here a brief article summarizing how to test PSU and inverter: How to test an LCD TV.
Here all parts for this model:GV42LHDTV.
Regard.
Ginko.
