A builder gave me a quote for renovations to my house and we accepted the quote and paid him a month later his telling us he under quoted us and left the site

It all depends on what was in the contract you signed with him, or what was on the written quotation. If he just came and said, "it will cost you $10,500" and you paid him with no paperwork, you have no recourse. The only thing you can do is getting a building surveyor, and price the work and materials used, then use that against what you paid. Then go through small claims court. It is unlikely the builder will attend court, in which case you will win the case by default. The big problem is if you have no paperwork at all, just words.

I have come across some old premium bonds of my late father. Is it possible to claim any prize won in the time myself or are they non transferable?

you need to get a certified copy of the ***** certificate and contact the place the bonds came from too validate you are the heir . then you will be able to cash them IF they are still valid. the bonds will have to be transferred to your name first
