I would expect to see something I can hook a lint filter catcher to in the middle of the agitator, but all there is, is a rinse conditioner dispenser with no hooks to clip a lint filter to the bottom of it. Do I have to replace this with two spare parts - a frame filter assy and lint filter catcher itself?

lift the cap off the agitator. You're now looking at the lint trap. clean the inside of the agitator and that should solve you're problem

The timer could be sticking OR: Is the machine empty of water when it stops? This information may help solve your problem?

I have a regular top loader and the lint filter is on the underside of the inner tub. You have to remove the inner tub to get to it. You might be able to find a service manual explaining this at appliancejunk.com.
