Tv lost color

Our 42" rear projection Mitsubishi tv worked just fine until suddenly one day last week when we turned it on and we don't get any red, orange, pink, or green colors. Blue and yellow shows up fine but everything else takes a brownish color. What could it be? Our tv is about 4-5 years old. Everything else about the picture looks good.

Your problem most likely is on the signal board is my guess. If your not a technician it would be in your best interest to have him check L2C60 on the signal board.

I would suggest it is a ballast problem. You can check supply of 5 volts to ballast's small 5 pin connector (trigger voltage) and about 300V-330V to large 2pin connector. If both voltages present at the start and lamp is working with in another TV - it is bad ballast.

Mitsubishi VS50605 rear projection TV won't come on

The power supply caps in the light engine power supply were faulty when they were installed. You need to remove the power supply and take it to your local electronics shop where they can remove the (7) faulty 1000uf 16v electrolytic capacitors and insert new ones. If you remove the power supply yourself (takes only a philips screwdriver) and reinstall it yourself, the electronics shop shouldn't charge you for more than an hour worth of time. The caps would be about $10.

Here's a photograph (thanks Don Crawford).

No red, orange, pink or green color!

Sounds like your green tube is low or is bad
Mitsubishi > VS XXXX
this model is famous for fluid leaks. each projector True True (``````````` (``````````` 0 95250 95250 clip_image002.png tube has a reservoir on the front of it with a fluid in it. this keeps the face of the tube cool.
this depends on how bad the damage is in the tv. in most cases we can reseal the tube and clean up the fluid 400-600.
Once you
take the tube out you will see where it leaked. The problem is that the
frame on the CRT that the heavy screws with springs are mounted on (that
hold the lens coupled to the CRT) is weak and they can bend. We have seen
several that have leaked after the customer moved the set. You can only
tighten them down so much because the frame bends. It is just stamped metal
and not welded at the corners to support the bend.

We remove the CRT, clean it all up, add a very small amount of RTV sealer to
the gasket, reassemble, let the RTV cure thoroughly and refill with coolant.
The extra sealer should prevent future leaks. Haven't had a recall yet.
Mits says replace the CRT...too costly.

You msut check the yokes carefully as well. If any coolant gets into them
you can end up with shorts there and a mess.

Clean the boards carefully and repair any corrosion damage. The coolant is
ethylene glycol and glycerine which is water soluable.
