Bad tuner or main board. It's always been hooked to satellite. Need antenna for stormy weather when satellite drops out. EPROM?
Do you have the air option in the scan menu see

page 9 important fact cable digital gets wiped by air digital channels
You may be able to get around this via a digital hd tv decoder box and then have it on a hdmi input on the TV as a backup to the cable if you can't have both cable digital channels stored and aerial digital channels stored

Can you confirm that you didn't have any input signal? My wife once accidentally pressed the reset button on the remote and the TV was stuck in this state. I tried to hook up an antenna to the digital antenna input and let the TV search for a channel. It did find a station and got out of the channel search mode, which was all I needed. Then, I unhook the antenna and continued to enjoy my DVD movie. I didn't check the manual. So, it's possible that there is a better solution. My TV was working fine and I think it just has a terrible user interface. I'm not sure about your TV's condition, though.

1. Connect PS3 to your TV
2. Select the Correct HDMI input on your TV
3. Press and hold the [power] button on the PS3
4. perform setup.
These are the steps to setup the video output for the PS3, It is possible that it is set to a resolution that your TV does not support.
If this doesn't work, you may want to contact Sanyo to ask if they have some protection circuit for the HDMI input. Some manufactures TV's will deactivate(turn OFF) the HDMI input under certain conditions. Unplugging the TV or some other procedure usually turns it back ON.

SOURCE: problem using Audio 3 sound inputs for HDMI video
Normally this problem is simply a matter of selecting the correct default audio playback device in the Windows control panel (sound option).
Check the Playback tab and set the default device to either DVI or HDMI.

Check your set up again. Mine says the HDMI/DVI is HDMI 1 (and then connect the audio to the video 3 audio input).
I need a magnifier to read the label on the TV. You just need the only HDMI input that has (DVI) in front of the word Input.
I hope this helps.

you are most likely scanning on the cable option
The external antenna has to be scanned on the air
option
But I think scanning on Air may wipe the Cable channels stored.
do you have the air option ?
