SOURCE: automatic document feeder

you have to replace it if cleaning doesn't help.

look for the seperation tire or pad if it picks up the paper from the top first then the sep is on the bottom and vice versa. Clean that on really good this is the one that seperates the paper and stops it from feeding more than one sheet.

SOURCE: automatic document feeder not working

Open the adf and rotate the pick assembly till you hear a click and then take a coin and run it up and down against the separator pad and then see if the adf picks the paper or not.If this does not work try this *# 329 and scroll thru and select adf pick test if that fails its time for you to get the printer replaced or get an upgraded printer

How do you clean rollers on manual feeder

To clean the rollers or separator pad
1. Remove all originals from the document feeder tray.
2. Lift the automatic document feeder cover (1).
This provides easy access to the rollers (2) and separator pad (3), as shown below.

1 Automatic document feeder cover
2 Rollers
3 Separator pad
3. Lightly dampen a clean lint-free cloth with distilled water, then squeeze any excess
liquid from the cloth.
4. Use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off the rollers or separator pad.
NOTE: If the residue does not come off using distilled water, try using

Multiple pages feed when printing on hp 7410

  • If the automatic document feeder (ADF) does not pick up any pages at all, the rollers inside the automatic document feeder need to be cleaned.
  • If the automatic document feeder picks up multiple pages instead of single sheets, the separator pad inside the automatic document feeder needs to be cleaned.
SolutionLoad one or two sheets of unused plain white full-size paper into the document feeder tray, and then press Start Copy Black to pull the pages through the automatic document feeder. The plain paper releases and absorbs residue from the rollers and separator pad.note.pngNOTE:If the automatic document feeder does not pick up the plain paper, try cleaning the front roller. Wipe the roller with a soft lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. If the problem persists, or the automatic document feeder does not pick up the plain paper, clean the rollers and separator pad manually. Follow the procedures below to remove the face plate from the front of the automatic document feeder, access the pick assembly inside the automatic document feeder, clean the rollers or separator pad, and then reattach the face plate.

The belt inside my scanjet 4200c has come off. How do I reattach it? I have opened the scanner. It looks to be relatively easy but I don't know how to attach the belt to the motor etc

Instructions

1 Lift the hatch on the feed tray and pull up the large green tab to the left of the roller. Remove any jammed or torn paper from under the roller and around the feed tray.
2 Pull the input feed tray out of the automatic document feeder. Grasp the feed tray with both hands and pull it straight out.
3 Check the interior of the automatic document feeder for jammed paper. Remove any jammed paper, then reinsert the feed tray into the automatic document feeder. Push down the feeder cover until you hear a click.

Doc.feder jam

Try cleaning the rollers in the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).
It might temporarily solve the problem, but rollers do have a limited life time, so you will eventually need new ones.

I am trying to copy a document from the automatic feeder. The feeder will not pick up the document and instead of getting a copy, I get a blank page. I have cleaned the rollers and nothing has changed.

I have noticed that these rollers can wear to the point that they no longer make proper contact with the paper regardless of cleaning. (Especially if you frequently print to paper of varied thicknesses) Try using a card stock sheet in the automatic feeder, if the problem goes away, you will need to replace the rollers to print to standard letter.
