You say "home made" - not sure what you mean by that. If it was a copy of something that was originally retail, it's possible the Macrovision encoding copied over with it - in which case your DVD recorder is working as it's supposed to to prevent illegal copying of disks. I'm a bit wary of getting into this in any depth, as it treads the lines of legality. If I found a way for you to bypass this copy protection, it would allow you to pirate movies freely. I'm not going to discuss my own feelings on that, but I will say that I'm not going to support such actions on a public forum. That being said, if for some reason your totally legitimate home made tape managed to get something that's being interpreted as Macrovision coding on it, you may want to do a google search for digital video stabilizer. That will point you in the right direction.

from the manual:
turn on tv & set to video input mode. REMOVE erase protection tab from tape. Load tape & DVD. THEN ON YOUR REMOTE:
1. press DVD (DVD indicator lights up).
2. Press REC MODE/SPEED & choose your speed.
3. Press VCR (VCR indicator lights up)
4. press DUBBING
5. select YES
6. to stop dubbing, press STOP
good luck!

I have a toshiba dvd/vcr vr610 And I don't know how to dubb.I don't have the manual
SOURCE: cant open dvd door:
You can force a dvd player to open. If you noticed there's a small hole in your dvd player as big as a paper clip. All you need to do is to find a paper clip and use it as a key to open ur dvd player.
