Placed the machine on descale after prompt to start descaling process. Followed all the prompts and started the descaling program, but when it counts down to 1 minute it gets stuck. Have tried to reset by switching the power button off/on and pressing the hot water button 5 times and holding on the 5th press but nothing happens, it gives you "program stopped repeat descaling process" press OK and the descale cycle starts again and runs down to 1 minute and gets stuck again.
I didn't have quite the same problem. I had a power loss during a descale process. When the machine came on again, it asked me if I'd like to continue and then got stuck with an (i) icon. The only way to remove the (i) was to turn the machine on and off and start the process over. Nothing worked. I followed the instructions to enter service mode and, on the CVA-4080, there was no option to reset. I tried running a few of the programmes (like empty water system or something to that effect). Running it once didn't work. But running it with the water container from nearly full to empty a few times seems to have done the trick. *If I were to guess, the machine isn't happy it still potentially has descaler in it* and needs to fully clean itself out. There was no indication that what I was doing would work. It was essentially a "hail-mary" but in the end, it did and I was able to get rid of the cursed (i) and complete the descale.
You need to enter service mode and reset the descale - to enter you press the hot water and power button at the same time and releasing - then press hot water five times and hold - there you can reset the descale

I had this happen once and had to put it through the descale process again. Just put more water in the tank, try it again and see what happens.

ok open door in upper left hand corner there is a switch turn off then turn on and close door- next step, only have 10 sec to do this, press and hold on the clear button press on 4 times and the 5 time continue to hold on and clear together a display will appear " Program" will appear press 4 times and you will see a in the lower right display reset descale on off push on you will hear some noise then resart the descale process the normal way.

Read your manual more closely. You also need to activate the hot water tap in accordance with the descaling instructions.
