Looking up in the manual might not be practical because you won't find the setting and language option if you have your device in Japanese. I don't mean to sound funny but I would like to share a personal experience: I bought some time ago an mp3 player without manual and with an on-screen menu. After some use, form one moment to other, without any apparent reason, language reverted to "default" Chinese - with chinese characters. I could solve the problem with the help of the manager.of in my favorite Chinese restaurant. SO FIND A FRIENDLY JAPANESE and ask if he or she can help you..
Press TOOLS (The spanner Icon in the bottom right corner of the screen which says WHERE TO and VIEW MAP
Press SETTINGS, the spanner icon, or (LOCALE the blue icon top right, on some models which don't have a SETTINGS icon)
Press LANGUAGE (the lips icon)
This will take you to a page with 3 items. VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD.
If you need to change the text language press TEXT LANGUAGE and select English If you need to change the voice language press VOICE and select a voice from an English speaking country. If you need to change the keyboard to english Press KEYBOARD and select English.
I know if the text is in Chinese you won't know which icon is which but by pressing each of them in turn you'll get to select English for each.

I have recently imported TOYOTA Allion2006 from Japan and it has VICS NHDN-W54G 76024 system installed. I know that this VICS model is designed to work in Japan along with supported technologies which we don't have here but still I would like to change the language of this system from Japanese to English. This system has functions like DVD-MP3-FM-AM-SD-HDD. I would love to use this system if the language could be converted in English. pls give me a advaice my mail add [email protected]
