Kenmore 400 series washer won't finish cycle,I have to turn the dial to drain and spin to finish the load

Hi,

please rotate your cycle dial in the opposite direction of its usual motion by 90 degrees (probably counter clockwise). Then you can run the cycle again and the drain/spin/rinse should work. Otherwise, please power cycle your washing machine.

Check drain pump for obstructions

After you advance the knob, you are saying that it will finish the rest of the cycle? If that is the case, more than likely, you will need a new timer for your washer. Hope this helps!

Check door switch: If the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining. Release switch. Motor should stop. Press switch a second time. Washer should start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid switch is pressed, replace the switch. OR

Replace the timer.
This is a neutral drain machine. If there is no natural pause in the timer at the end of the rinse cycle the timer is bad.

you have something gotten into your pump ,,, it trys to drain and spin but overloads the motor and shuts down till the motor switch resets .... remove the pump and take out whatever gotten in it and if that not possable replace the pump.
