SOURCE: Err LS on Bowflex Treadmill

The machine needs to be re-callibrated. L5 error.
Your speed sensor must have been damaged either during shipping or use. You'll need a new one. If under warranty - give Bowflex a call. They will ship you out a new sensor and guide you through installing it via the phone... re-calibrating the machine... and getting it operational again. It will take about 2 hours.

The instruction book doesn't mention calibration. be sure to not callibrate in metrics, however (there's no way to easily tell the difference - you have to ask) or you'll be strolling like a walk in the park at 5 "mph".

SOURCE: bowflex treadmill series 7 saying safe out

I had the same problem, however the treadmill remained in 'safe out' status even when the Safety pull pin was correctly inserted.
The cause of my fault was that one of the kids decided to insert a wrist watch into the round hole located on the control panel's lower cover. In doing so this unplugged the cable conector for the magnetic switch which operates the 'safe out' function, from the main circuit board. The repair was quick and easy, i turned the power off, removed the bottom cover from the control panel and simply plugged the magnetic switch back into the main circuit board and all was back to normal.

HI our Bowflex series 3 treadmill is giving us a continued Err L5 code when trying to use our machine. We bought it used so do NOT have ant trouble shooting instructions. Any advice?

Hi There, L5 error should refer to the "LS" error which looks up to a speed problem. When you start the machine up, it boots fine and then when you press start or go is says err ls ? If the walking belt doesn't move at all when you try to start it, listen for a "Click" on that lower board when start is pressed..... If the walking belt moves for a second and then stops and the console says err ls, then you may have a speed sensor problem. These control boards are repaired by Jatinah Electronics who can be found with a google search. Good Luck!

SPEED
SENSOR
1. Cycle power off and on
2. Put the machine in calibration mode (see Calibration
procedures, Pg 26) but do not start the calibration routine.
3. Remove right rear base plastic cover to allow access to
LED board. Caution: Machine is on. Current is active!!
4. Locate LED D on the motor controller board. LED may
be lit or unlit.
5. Manually advance the treadle with your foot, and check
if LED D is blinking.
6. If LED D is not blinking, then the speed sensor is not sup

I/O cables
If LED D is flashing when the belts are turning but err LS
or OS persists, check for signs of visible damage to any of
the three I/O calbes and connections. If no visible damage
check continuity using a multi-meter. If a multi-meter is
not available replace all three cables.
Electronics
If all I/O cables are functioning properly, LED D indicates
speed sensor is functioning, and err LS or OS persists
problem is in either the upper electronics board or the
motor controller board. With machine on check LED A
on the controller board. If it is dimly lit replace upper
electronics (000-4430). If it is not lit at all replace motor
controller.

The belt won't move, Err-L5 keeps on coming on what seems to be the problem can u help me Pat Morelli

L5 or LS is short for Low Speed error

It basically means that the speed sensor is not picking up a signal. Unfortunatley its a pretty vague error code and can be caused by several different problems.

First you have to determine wether or not you have belt movement. If you have a LS with belt movement you know that it is related to the speed sensor itself (or the MCB motor control board - the part of the MCB that handles speed sensing function). If you are getting an LS w/belt movement you have to check to see if you have power output from the MCB. If you have no power output, check fuses, if fuses are good you will need the MCB replaced.

Hope this helps (remember to rate this answer).

I have an L5 error on the display. Belt not working. What do i do?

This is a LS or speed sensor error, it can be caused by a belt that is too tight, non lubricated walking belt and or a bad sensor. If the belt does not move at all, Bowflex will tell you to buy a new lower control board. $227 direct from them (Nautilus)

Here's what it says for ERR LS:
Belts stop turning and “err LS” or “err OS” is displayed Calibration Re-calibrate machine using Owner’s Manual calibration procedure. Speed sensor 1. Cycle power off and on. 2. Put the machine in calibration mode (see Calibration procedure in Owner’s Manual) but do not start the calibration routine. 3. Remove right rear plastic cover to view LED diagnostics on control board. Caution: Machine is on. Current is active!! 4. Locate LED D on the motor controller board. LED may be lit or unlit. 5. Manually advance the treadle with your foot, and check if LED D is blinking. 6. If LED D is not blinking, then the speed sensor is not supplying a signal. Check that the speed sensor wire is plugged into the motor controller board, to the connection labeled “P1”. Check connection of speed sensor to jumper wire. Check speed sensor adjustment (use business card to set gap between sensor and pulley). If LED D still does not flash replace sensor. I/O cables If LED D is flashing when the belts are turning but err LS or OS persists check connections and for signs of visible damage to any of the three I/O cables. If no damage, check continuity using a multi-meter. If a multi-meter is not available contact customer service for replacement cables and further assistance.
