My remote controls to my Toshiba TV stopped working yesterday. I have three different remotes to the TV, Once in a while I may get it to actually change the channel ,or turn the volume up or down. But it will only do it ramdomly and then it wont do it again. Ive reprogrammed my remotes, and changed the batteries in them, So I dont think thats the problem. Any Suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank You.
I have a Toshiba 36HFX71 36" TV. The remote doesn't work consistently. I will be working fine one day and the next nothing. The lights all light up and I have changed the batteries several times. I have even taken the remote in to have it cleaned. Any ideas on what else it could be?
Same circumstances, the reciever on the TV is bad, not the remote. Therefore, that part must be ordered and replaced.Same circumstances, the reciever on the TV is bad, not the remote. Therefore, that part must be ordered and replaced.
Remote works today and not tomorrow...No way to determin when it will or wont work...Remote works today and not tomorrow...No way to determin when it will or wont work...

Same problem and it happened around the same time. I agree that it must be the receiver on the TV. Question now is, where do I buy one and how do I install it?Same problem and it happened around the same time. I agree that it must be the receiver on the TV. My 36" Toshiba won't work with remote. First it was intermittent so I bought a brand new remote but didn't solve the problem. Then it turned into a full time no remote problem. My Toshiba VCR/DVD remote stopped working about a month later. These were out of warranty for about a year, go figure.
The 36" tv weighs a ton so taking it to the repair shop is a major hastle and my repair guy doesn't like to do house calls. I've got a 15 year old Toshiba TV and VCR as well and it has never been an issue..the problem tv is 36af43 and vcr is sdv391. any advice or is it time to switch brands? My 36" Toshiba won't work with remote. Hi, Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service. I came across your post and wanted to see if I could help. The information you provided leads me to believe that you will need to address your DISH Network remote to your Toshiba TV. There are a few different codes for each of our different models of remotes. I will list here for you the codes for our more popular models of remotes and also the instructions for addressing your remote to your TV. I hope you find this information useful and if you have any further questions or concerns feel free to email me anytime at [email protected] and I will be happy to help!
Instructions for addressing the remote to the TV
Turn the Television On
Press and Hold the TV Mode button until all other mode buttons light up red.
Enter the three-digit code using the buttons on the number pad.
Press the pound(#) button. Note: The LED will flash three times.
Test functionality with the TV
Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the
volume and mute the television.
I have been seeing a lot of Toshiba remote "eyes" (the infra-red receiver inside the TV) fail recently. If several known good remotes cannot control the TV then the IR receiver will have to be replaced. If you have no experience soldering and unsoldering PC boards then have a qualified tech handle it for you.
