Wine cooler cools but has a very loud, too loud to ignore, whirring sound when it is in cooling mode. Any ideas?

The model is no longer available.

And when the wine is cooled ... the noise stops?
It's like a refrigerator ... it only operates when it it is reducing temperatures. Once things have cooled, the system cuts out.

If your wine cooler stops making a noise when the wine is cooled ..ok.

Testimonial: "It is a VERY loud noise that just started recently. It is not the normal whirring sound; it sounds like an airplane engine!"

Wine Enthusiast Silent Wine Refrigerator is making a loud buzzing/whirring noise.

Since this unit doesn't use a compressor, the only moving parts are the whisper fans inside of it that circulate the air. One of those fans may be going bad. If you are handy you can remove the back to see if all the fans are working but your best bet is to use the one year warranty and have a qualified techncian figure it out.

THE UNIT DOES NOT COOL ANDY COLDER THAN ROOM TEMPERATURE.

does the compressor run ? if so you could have a low refrigerant charge, a sealed unit resrtiction, leak or defective compressor.

I have the Marvel 70 bottle wine cooler and it is making loud whining noise like if you put a stick in the wheel of spinning bike spokes when it is cooling down sometimes. it does not seem to be the fan...

I believe the 6SBAR has an evaporator fan located behind the evaporator plate ( the cooling plate) inside the unit. They had some issues with the bearings in those fans failing and will sound like a small jet engine sometimes (high pitched whine). When you hear the noise, open the door and if the noise level changes (either gets louder or goes away) then it is the evaporator fan. If your noise is coming from the compressor area and does not change when you open the door, it is most likely the condenser fan blade is loose. The evaporator fan looks like a small computer cooling fan and is located near the bottom center of the evaporator plate (out of site). The factory sells a replacement kit with a much better fan and new power supply. You can reach them at 800-223-3900. Good-luck.

Does not cool. Compressor Hot

Sounds like the compressor starting relay. This should be available from from most appliance parts retailers that carry refrigeration parts. It is probably a plug-in relay which is easy to replace. PULL THE PLUG UNTIL YOU GET IT! Constant cycling on the thermal protector will damage the unit.

U-Line no longer cooling

This sounds like the thermostat is the problem. I wouldsuggest touching the compressor at the back of the unit to see if it is hot or cold. If it is hot then you have probably have power down to the compressor, if it is cold you could (if capable) bypass the thermostat to see if it kicks in. Hope this helps.
