"CLEAR" key does not function. Took apart and verified buttons and PWB are not damaged. Is this a firmware problem? If so, how do I reset/fix?

"MATH", "APPS", "PRGM" & "VARS" keys do not function either (same row on PWB).

SOURCE: My TI-89 row of keys not working

At least it was the enter key. the other key can be gotten using the catalog. I'm not even sure taking it apart would help. I've seen one person do it and it wasn't pretty. Another person destroyed his. If you can program you can work around the bad keys but, could be a nightmare unless your only simply adding. Sorry! Hopefully it will come back w/ normal use.

SOURCE: all of my apps, gone !

Hello,
Please do not dislike your math teacher, for your own sake: You will not learn much from someone whom you dislike. Now Relax.

All the applications that were preloaded in your calculator are available to download freely from http://education.ti.com Use the tab Download--> Apps and software. Then select software for the TI83/TI84 Family. While you are at the site download the TI Connect, if yoy do not have it already. The link follows.
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/productDetail/us_ti_connect.html You can also download the latest OS there.

Install TI connect on your computer and run it to open the main Window. Then connect you calculator to a USB port and, in the TIConnect main window Click the TIDeviceInfo icon. Software will try to retrieve the info. If it does your calculator is ready to communicate with the computer.

If it tells you Device Not found , Click communication settings in same pop up window where it said Not found, and Select Device, Select Cable (USB or TIsilver cable), Select Port (USB1) and Click OK..

If you are lucky and it works, you can reinstall the OS, which can be downloaded from education.ti.com. You drag and drop the OS on the TIconnect main window. Calculator must of couse be connected to computer. To install an application already downloaded to you computer, drag it to the main window of TI Connect and drop it. Keep installing, the appilcations you want.

If you have problem with TIconnect, use the calc-to-calc cable to transfer the Apps on a working calculator. Yous should be on Receive mode [2nd][Link] --->>Receive. (When both calculators are ready hit enter.) The other calculator, you guessed exactly right, must be on Send [2nd][Link][SEND][C:Apps]. A list of Apps appears. Scroll down the list. If you want to transmit un app you press [ENTER] when the arrow reaches its line. Once an app is selected , a small square appears on the left. After the selection, Hit transmit. I suggest you transfer Apps, one after the other. Avoid selecting them all and send them all at one go.

Hope it helps

SOURCE: Have a row of keys that do not work (possible

Here are your options

1. Remove and REPLACE batteries.... 2. Reformat the Calculator. Games, hacks and other things can make buttons not function properly. (If you or he/she has important info or saved data on the calculator, Archive it first then reformat) 3.Return to store UNLESS the box/instructions/calculator says to return to Texas Instruments then don't take it to the store. Send it in. 4. Lastly if you think water damage has occurred to the buttons then put it in a container with silica gel for a few days to remove any water and. If you feeling tech savvy enough then open it up and clean the water residue off the buttons. The water can not "break" the buttons but it can get in the way of the button cell contacts... and it needs to be cleaned out.

What is and how to clear error code E0000002-0102

This is an error code for the fuser assembly not getting hot enough in a specified time. To rest the error press the additional function key, then the 2 and 8 keys at the same time, then the additional function key again. You should be in service mode. Press copier, then function ( across the top of the display ), CLEAR, Then ERR then OK. Power cycle the copier then all should be good. If the error comes back you have a heater or thermistor problem that must be fixed. I suggest only resetting the copier just one time. The copier is trying to prevent any damage to the fixing assembly that may be more costly than the original problem.

The buttons on my phone do not work ;(

For many cell phones, the buttons are the main way -- and sometimes the only way-- that you can interface with the device. Most cell phone buttons are simply small domed pieces of metal that flatten out when you press them, completing a circuit with a metal pad on the circuit board and allowing the software to register a keypress. If you need to fix buttons that have stopped working, you'll first want to try some simple fixes, but you will probably have to open up the device.

1.Remove the device's battery, wait about 20 seconds, then replace it. Software errors sometimes interfere with the keypad operation. Removing the battery will reset the software and if the buttons start working again, you will have saved yourself a lot of effort.
2.Take note of which buttons are not working. Once you have the device apart and are staring at the internal keyboard, it may be difficult to remember exactly which buttons are non-functional.
3.Remove the cell phone's plastic housing so that you can get to the keyboard. The exact method for doing this will vary widely based on your exact model of cell phone, but most will have small Phillips or Torx screws on the back side. Once you've removed the screws, use a pry tool to separate the housing and get to the keyboard.
4.Check the rubber keypad for damage. This is the part that contains the keys you actually press, the underside of which will have a small cylinder under each key. When you press down on the button, the cylinder pushes down on the actual keyboard. Any damage to the keys on the topside, or to the cylinders underneath, can cause an individual key to stop working. If there is damage, there is no way to fix it -- you will have to replace the rubber keypad.
5.Check the connector that runs from the keyboard to the rest of the circuit board to ensure that it is seated correctly and is not damaged. If it is damaged, you will have to replace the entire keyboard to restore functionality. Not every keyboard will have a cable, as some are installed directly on the control board, so don't worry if you can't find one.
6.Hold the heat gun about six inches above the keyboard. Turn on the heat gun and move it around the keyboard for about a minute. Do not hold the heat gun in any one place for more than a second or two.
7.Pry up the white sticker that sits on top of the keyboard. This sticker holds the metal domes, which are what get pressed down to actually cause a button press, in place. If the sticker is not coming up, apply heat for another 10 seconds and try again. Be careful that you do not separate the metal domes from the underside of this sticker.
8.Apply isopropyl alcohol to your brush and scrub the metal pads on the keyboard, along with any nearby components on the circuit board. Dirt, debris and moisture damage can build up on the keyboard over time and eventually cause it to stop working. Cleaning it is not a guaranteed fix, but it often helps.
9.Locate the metal domes, which are attached to the underside of the white sticker, for any individual keys that are not working. Place the tip of your small screwdriver in the middle of the concave side of the dome and pull the edge toward the screwdriver. Sometimes, the domes will lose their ability to fully depress, and this process will restore this ability. Don't pull too much -- just enough to add a slightly greater curvature to the dome. Note that this process should be used only when a single button is non-functional. If a group of buttons, or all the buttons, are non-functional, the problem is elsewhere.
10.Replace the white sticker, ensuring that the metal domes are positioned exactly over the metal pads on the circuit board. Reassemble the device and try out the keyboard. If the keys are still not working, the keyboard is probably never going to function again.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

Service code problem

This is a fault of the Printer function's PWB (Printed Wire Board, more commonly referred to as a circuit board).

Hopefully this is a glitch and you'll be able to clear it. To do this press the 'P' (Program) key, then the '*' (asterisk) key, then the 'C' (clear), then the '*' (asterisk) key again (Sequence P->*->C->*. This will place the machine into simulation mode.

Now enter the number 14 on the keypad and press the 'Start' key (the one you normally press to start copies or scans). The machine will clear the fault and reboot. If it doesn't reboot shortly afterwards, press the 'CA' (clear all) key and it should definitely reboot.

If the code returns after rebooting, you need to contact a copier repair technician, as this will most likely be a PWB problem that needs further diagnosis and/or repair.
