I ordered some dvds from amazon and when I put them in it says the wrong region? My dvd player is a Sylvania SDVD1041C..if anybody can help that would be great, I have a Transformers party to attend
This is because your DVD player is not compatible with the region code on your DVD discs. What is DVD region code? The DVD region code was designed for movie studios to control the release plan for different regions across the world. Different regions have different region code so that the DVD you buy from one region cannot be played on the DVD player that has a different region code. Basically, what it means is that you can only watch the DVD in your own region, and it's not allowed by the movie studio for you to watch any DVD that is from other regions. You can get a DVD copy without region code using Leawo DVD Copy. This tool can deal with different kinds of protected DVD discs.
DVDs come imprinted with a region code for the geographical area they are sold in. DVD players sold in the same area(s) have the same region code. If you purchase DVDs made for a different region code, they will not play on your player. This is done to prevent piracy and copyright violators. Players can have their region codes changed, but then anything you have already will not play, and you are usually limited to three or four region changes before the player will not allow any more.

dvds are coded differently depending on which region of the world they are intended for. there are eight regions - check this link for more info; http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=502554 this was a pointless idea that was supposed to limit video piracy, but only actually causes problems and increased production costs The US is in region 1, so the problem is the settings on your dvd/vcr as to what region it is coding the discs as. You may be able to change this in one of the menus, but it may be designed for only one region code output. It is not a permanent hack, you will have to to it over for every out of region movie you put in.
1. When "REGION CODE ERROR" shows on screen after you've input your wrong-region DVD you push "ON SCREEN".
2. When the DVD-menu is showing push "ON SCREEN" again and another DVD-menu will appear.
3. Move the arrow over to the clock and press enter. The menu asks for "TIME" and you write 0:00:00 and push enter.
4. You will now see the menu for the movie. Remove the DVD-menu by pushing "ON SCREEN" once. You can now watch the movie.

you could try the following
1. Turn on the unit
2. Open the loading tray
3. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
4. Navigate to the "Preferences" page using the right arrow key
5. Enter 138931
6. You will now see the current region code displayed
7. Use the Up/Down arrow keys to select the region required or "0" for all
regions
8. Press the "Play" button on the remote
this should unlock it to all regions .

2. Press the Setup button on your remote control
3. Press the Right button on your remote control
4. Press the Right button on your remote control

6. Press the 9 button on your remote control
7. Press the 6 button on your remote control
8. Press the 5 button on your remote control
9. Press the 3 button on your remote control
10. Using the Up and Down buttons on your remote control, change the region to 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 0 for multi-region playback
