Recently acquired this TV from a friend and trying to correct issue with DTV mode. When you switch to DTV mode the screen goes blank and will often get a "no signal" warning on screen for a few seconds. Once in this mode the remote basically no longer works except for changing input to another mode. (All other modes are TV are working fine such as HDMI and even the analog tuning.) Even though remote does not work once in DTV mode you can use the side buttons to get into the menu system but if you try to go to DTV setup menu the screen goes blank and the only thing you can do is turn it off and back on to be able to do anything else. Have seen others post this exact set of symptoms but no definitive answer. Set is definitely connected to strong antenna signal so that is not a concern. Tried replacing tuner board and main control board with no change in symptoms. Some of the power supply voltages seems a bit noisy but not sure how much noise is too much. Hoping someone has seen and solved this problem to give me hint at what board is culprit at this point.

Follow up on No DTV tuner after unplugging it a month for vacation. After I let it set plugged in for about 2-3 days it started working normally again and has been fine ever since. I hope this may help someone else. Genez 6-7-09

The sp42a is a plasma tv not an lcd. check the psb voltages first then move onto the ymain and buffers.

Hello I have had the same thing happen, but if you use the input button on your remote you can switch to another device or regular tv and use the channel up and down. Hope this helps.
