2 wires are not needed to use they are the wires of an supression capacitor on the switch then there are 2 wires from your power cable and 2 that goes to your motor that 4 you only you have to use you can also connect the 2 wires from the s-capacitor with te wires on the motor together thats is how its also correct, (but best is to remove it because its only for suppression for FM ukw radio signals and everybody has DAB+ and the change to have short-circuit is reduced.

That entire older Buffalo line of grinders: N-10CB, B-8CB, B-6CB, bgbr-6cb all use the same push pull switch. Most of those grinders were dual-voltage with a starter capacitor and there are 6 wires connected to a 4 contact switch. The "Jet BGS8-076" grinder switch that is used by the older Buffalo's, Galaxy, Duracraft and TestRite grinders is no longer available. The good news is that there is a replacement switch from another manufacturer: "3030-9001 push pull switch for RDX grinders" from Wholesale Tool is a direct replacement. It has the same 4-screw contacts on the back and the same push-pull diamond pattern front plate.
There is a post on RidgidForum and on Yesterdaystractors that shows the proper connection for the 6 wires (in a 110Volt setup) The white and yellow go together on one post opposite them is a black and red. beneath the black\red is the other black and the other red is beneath the white\yellow.

SOURCE: older sears bench grinder wont run 1/3 hp model 397 19581

Hi again, OK, Well since I don't have a wiring diagram and the colors don't help. I am also going to assume it is 110VAC. The larger wires are probably the run or primary, it you remember which ones were connected it will help with polarizing. ( getting it to run in the right direction as well as the start and primary working together). You can use the two terminal switch but you should use a three wire cord. Use the switch to break the neutral and ground the case. The connections should be as follows: Connection 1, would have one of the primaries and one of the starts to neutral. Connection 2, the other start to the relay. Connection 3, the coil side of the relay to the remaining primary. ( if the relay has two connections on one end and one on the other it would be the single) Connection 4, the 3rd position on the relay to hot. That is how a split phase is wired. You may find a simple wiring diagram on the net if you type split phase motor wiring diagram. Good Luck to you, this should Fixya!

SOURCE: switch and capacitor crapped out on 1/2 hp Sears bench grinder

Replacement should be simple. Just do a one for one hookup with the new part, after you unplug it first.

Can you get a replacement? If not, we could probably figure out some suitable substitute.

I have a buffalo 6 inch dual wheel bench grinder cord and off on switch are missing how do i hook up the grinder is old and has 4 wires

Usually, 4 wires are multi-directional neutral and earth are usually colours the other 2 are both live and would need to go through a switch. you can of course put the other live in a cover and just use one live wired as usual into a plug. Make sure the spare wire is well protected ie in a jb with plenty of tape around it

Motor wiring diagram

A suppression capacitor has 2 wires and can be have red and black wire pair, and a motor have 2 wires from the electric field to the carbonbrushes and 2 other wires from the magnetfield goes to the switch and on the same wires can be connected a parallell suppresion capacitor connected bud in most cases its not needed in practice.
The other 2 wires have to come from the powercable on the switch the most grinders to find in shops are class 2 angle grinders with double insulation, But If this is an bench grinder there must be a class 1 cable used with 3 wires to earthing a metal point on the housing. look always for the 2 square symbol its class 2 and cable has 2 wires otherwise 3 .

I have a Buffalo B-10CB(CH) bench grinder and the on/off switch has broken, it's a push/pull type. What can I replace it with to make it work safely?

You could connect the wires of the switch together inside and bypass the switch. Then I would connect in the power cable a switch rated for 1 hp. You can use surface mount electrical box, with two cable connectors (one for the cable going into the grinder, the other for the cable going to the male cord end of the cable. Install a 120 volt switch inside the box (similar to the light switch in the wall). Make sure that the switch is rated for 1 hp. I would install the switch under the bench, under the grinder.

I have an B-6CB(KS) 6" buffalo grinder, the switch

The neutral line should never be switched--only the hot wire (black). If there are only two wires that went to the switch, you should be able to tie them together and the motor will run when plugged in. The switch should be a common SPST type either toggle or rocker to fit. Hope this helps!

Need an on/off switch for a buffalo bench grinder model B-6CB 1/2 hp. 41/2 amp. serial #775713

I had the same problem with a Northern Tools bench grinder. These are made in China and parts are hard to come by. I had enough room after removing the old broken on/off switch to install a single pole 15 amp light switch like you use in your home. I simply installed it horizontally and then put the switch cover on. It works perfectly. If you do not have enough room then look for any 15 amp or larger switch that will fit in the housing. Any on/off switch will work. You could even mount the switch on the bench in a switch housing and run the wires from the grinder to the switch and back if need be. Just be safe and make sure there are no exposed wires. As a last resort you could remove the switch connect the wires, eliminating the switch and use a plug in wall switch such as this. 4147a14.png
