Have you checked the tv on/off setting in your main menu? I had the same problem when tv would turn itself on at midnight and switch off at 12.30. Had accidently turned on the timer. Hope this helps.

Sounds like the item may have OVERHEATED [will automatically switch off to protect itself from destruction]. Should re-set itself when the internal temperature returns to normal ... [My TOMTOM does the same] ... ok
OR you could have a FAULTY BATTERY or CHARGER. Both of these will cause most GPS units not to boot up or to rapidly shut down [low battery].
NB: Mobile GPS units of any kind should NOT be left mounted on windscreens in a locked car [particularly in direct sunlight] as the inside temperature can rapidly reach over 100deg AND possibly destroy your unit internally.
If thisnis a central air conditioner and there is hissing at the indoor coil then the compressor is running, it is possible that both fans are not running. The indoor motor may not run if the control board is bad, capacitor is bad or the motor itself is bad. The outdoor fan may have a bad capacitor or the motor itself is bad
CAPS (capacitors) on the power supply board are going bad. TV putting itself into fault protection by turning itself off..... If you can give the model number I can better help you.....
Does the unit comes on by itself once power is applied to the unit? If it doesn't come on by itself, then there is a problem with your power supply. The unit is designed to detect when an external power supply is applied and turn itself on. It is also designed design to detect if you unplug the unit from the external power supply. It will say "Lost external power, shutting down in 30 seconds". BTW are using Garmin cables?
This can be a very irritating problem. Happened to me too. The only thing to do is after you turn off the unit with the remote, go to the unit and physically turn off the power to the unit with the manual Power on/off switch on the left side of the unit. Nothing else works.
The first problem with it powering itself off is a battery problem. Your battery is not hold a charge.
The second problem with it powering itself on with the power cord attached is a power cord issue. The unit is suppose to automatically power itself on if a power cord is attached to it. This is Garmin way of turning the unit on when you start your car. Most auto cigarette lighter will cut power if the ignition is off, and restore power when the ignition is on.
Garmin uses this to turn the unit on and off. If the unit was being powered by the the cigarette lighter then it say unit is shutting down in 20 seconds after the power is cut.
