Possible electric clutch? If it is a clutch and has separate forward and reverse clutches, the forward clutch, control wire or clutch actuation magnet could be loose or bad. Good luck.

your Husky is the nice old school machines. it has a friction wheel and plate that the wheel rides on for reverse and forward. rock the machine up on its auger and take the bottom plate off. move the forward /reverse lever and I'm sure it will be obvious what's not functioning with the friction wheel.
Try the friction wheel, you guys over think things. Use a snapper wheel, then use your original friction band, you'll have to modify the snapper wheel a bit but it will fix your problem
