Konica 7228 was getting dark copy with streaks.

I cleaned all the parts around the drum out. Checked and cleaned the Main Corona. After I finished it got darker! I think it's a Main Corona grid bias or developer bias problem. I do not want to invest in a Drum and Developer unless I really need to. Anyone know where to start testing. You can see a sample of copy at www.clearcopyservice.com/002.jpg Thanks

SOURCE: blank copy

the charge corona assy. is just the silver assembly that the corona wire is inside of. to help verify where your problem is, lift up your top lid and make a "sky" shot. watch your lamp under glass, and when lamp gets about 5-7" from left, quickly open front door. now, open the copier to inspect the bottom side of your drum. if you see a good coating of toner on drum, but not on paper, the problem is in the corona assembly thats on the bottom, middle of copier directly under your drum. if no toner on drum, then its very possible its the charge corona assy. on top of your drum.

Model 600. Why is it dropping toner near transfer corona unit?

When is the last time the developer and drum where replaced? When the last time was a PM done? Very 250,000 copies a PM must be done? Which replaces the Corona Wires, Developer, Drum, Corona Grid, Web roller for fuser (Hot Part). Also during the PM the Tech should clean the toner out of the Waste Toner collection unit on the image unit. also clean the area around the drum and developer roller.

Minolta 7228 moved from one location to another now copies not clean.

I doubt that moving the machine has caused the problem shown.
Regardless- the copier drum is not being cleaned.
I would begin by replacing the Drum Blade.
It is technical and will require your knowledge of the service manual procedure.

Good luck

Problem with Konica 7145.. When i make copies it duplicates some lines and reprints them lower on page (more faded) and also the first lines of the copy are blured in a point that they are not readabl

Manousos Xatzidakis:

I would take another look at the drum cleaning blade as well as the CEL and PTL. Any time I've had problems with double images, the drum carriage and parts associated to it have been the problem. I remember one notable case where I removed and shrouded the drum to protect it from light, cleaned both the charge corona and the discharge corona, cleaned the PCL and the PTL of toner dust, vacuumed the drum carriage of toner dust, cleaned the developer unit and replaced the developer. I finally got clear copies and the customer was satisfied.

Paper not clean when printing/copying How do I

Hello,
first the paper can be dirty in a lot of ways...

i.e.

If you have dark "background"or small black dots, the problem is in developer and it need's to be replaced, or cleaning blade or drum.
If you have streaks on copy, the problem can be in drum and cleaning blade or fixing roller.
If the copy is too light, the problem can be in dirty optics or bad transfer corona.

There can be a lot of things... better call service for preventive maintenace, they will change all that is needed according the number of copies that machine has.

Hope that helps!

My minolta ep 4000 copier prints with thick black streaks imprinted on page. what's wrong? is it the corona, the drum, or something else?

Most likely it is the drum cleaning blade. One indicator of the drum cleaning blade going bad is that the black lines will get worse as you run multiple copies. So if you make 10 copies for example, the last copy out will be streaked worse than the first copy out. Drum cleanig blades are about $30 bucks plus whatever your local service guy charges for a svc call.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Dirty printouts

The drum assembly probably needs a good cleaning, you remove the assembly and take a white clip off of one end and pull the shaft out to release the drum. Handle carefully and put in a safe dark place while you clean the corona. 2 screws will release the corona and you can blow it out real good with canned air. re-assemble and make test prints. Repeat if you get streaks.

Dirty copies.

Does this streaking problem occur when printing (not copying)? If it does then you are probably looking at a consumable issue. Alot of times black streaking is caused by a defective or spent drum. Is your drum new? There is also a blue piece on the drum unit used to clean the corona wire that cleans the drum. Have you tried moving it back and forth several times?

If the problem only happens when copying and the streaks are as bad as you make them out to be then you problem have a bad CIS unit (scans your originals for faxing or copying)

Konica Minolta 7022- How to clean- Getting Dark Lines on Copies

Beings as it is close to 100k, it is due for a PM (preventative maintenance) kit to be installed (this model has a 100k PM cycle), and also a web, corona wires, charge grid, and feed rollers (if worn) should be replaced at this point, and of course cleaned.

The drum and developer "should" last 200k (this can vary greatly).

$200 for a general cleaning on that series machine... that's entirely too much, and he will most likely tell you it's due for a PM. A competent technician would be able to install the kit, replace the above parts in under 2 hours easily.

I wish I could be of more help, but given that is almost at the end of its PM cycle, it could be anything.
