The paper feeds two to three inches and jams.I can manually pull out the paper and one copy will print but the next copy will jam the same way. It says to change drum but we just replaced the drum about two weeks ago.

After changing the drum, toner and running around town for days trying to find a reliable place to get this printer repaired, I realized I was spending a lot more money than what the printer actually costs. the drum was over $100, toner was $80, and the printer is $250. I bought a new one, and I can now use the old one for parts.

Paper jams brother mfc 7420

Paper Jams are routinely caused by bad roller in the printer. The Heat of laser printers can render these rubber roller pretty useless in a couple of years or less if you print often. If you have recently replaced the drum (according to the recommended print output number), Then If an $80 dollar roller + labor is worth it to you, go for it, otherwise buy a new printer and Brother gives the best ink value per page. hope this helps.

My Brother MFC-9840CDW keeps jamming every time I print mailing labels. I've had it four 1.5 years with no trouble. The label gets stuck and I have to pull out the toner tray to fetch it. I also...

hello, sounds like there are many possible solutions for you machine, first with paper jamming, are labels going thru manual feed tray, or paper tray, it might be possible that mp feed roller needs cleaning or replacing. if paper tray, simple would be feed roller, clean or replace, if jams continue with normal paper from paper tray, the problem will be front door, i have yet to be able to repair paper jams when front door assembly fails. as far as colors, both drum and toner can cause this problem, if using 3rd party toner, this will also cause some color problems. sorry no real quick fix for this machine, i've tried.

I have a brother mfc 7420 and every time I print it tells me paper jam, I pull the paper tray out fix the paper push start it tells me paper then I have to pull out the cartridge and pull out the paper...

Sounds like there is something in the paper track that's causing this to jam. Its not always easy to get small particles cleared just by removing the jammed paper.

This may not help everyone that I send it to, but it is worth a try.
I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press
the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer.
The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

I cant fix the paper jam problem. every time i take the paper jam out it jams again

I have had paper jams in five different places on this machine. It has jammed at the pickup point from the tray, in which case you have to remove the paper tray and pull the jammed paper out. It has jammed at the manual paper feed tray, in which case you just have to pull the jammed paper out of the feed rollers. It has jammed at the toner/drum, in which case you have to open the front cover and pull the toner cartridge out to remove the jam. It has jammed in the back of the machine where the paper feeds through to the output tray, in which case you have to open the small back panel and remove the paper. And it has jammed in the output rollers, in which case you have to reach inside the output tray and remove the paper. Then once the jam is cleared there are times when the machine has to be unplugged for up to 8 hours to reset before it will function properly.

Paper jams 1/2 way through drum/cartridge. Jams like an accordian, with 1/2 page printed. My printer is a Brother mfc 7420. About 2 years old.

Take the toner cartrige out, look around with a flashlight for a piece of paper or something that could jam the works. Check the movable tab that comes out of the front of the machine to hold paper up, maybe it has gotten crooked or something. Don't have anything in front of the machine to block the paper coming out. A can of compressed air can be used to blow the machine out.

MFC 7420 front paper jam

First you need to clean up your printer with duster and after thatn, check the toner and drum to see any paper jam or anything wrong,
Normally after you clean up the machine, should working fine,
if still not working, please replace the rubber roll.

Paper jam on initial feed

It sounds to me like your pickup rollers are worn. You should order a new set and replace them. That should solve your paper jam issue.
