NEED HELP setting up scanning on HP officejet pro 8600.. can not find a Scan Menu or scanner actions

Use Avery Label sheet.
Set correct paper size on Word and the Operating system.
Use label from Sheet feed tray only.

Color image scan produces black and white pdf
This is purely down to the scanner settings. In the scan settings, choose the resolution and if to scan in monochrome (or B&W) or colour. SAVE the settings. Try a rescan and you should find that will work.
