One of two reasons: The drum belt has broken and needs replacement, or TWO, check for an object that may have accidently jammed the drum from turning; such as a sock falling into the tract where the drum rotates, or a bad seal. Check the drum for movement by hand, and see if you can free it up manually. Last: check alignment. Look for damaged fittings.

Wondering if other people have a Miele front loader that puts holes in their clothes

There are a number of reasons this could happen.
(1) If the items damaged are nylon or silk (very fine fabric )and the machine is on a fast spin they could be forced through the holes in the drum and get nicked by the heater as the drum turns.
Solution is don't put fine fabric on very fast spin programs.
(2) There could be a weak joint in the inner drum which opens out during fast spin or a heavy load. Test the inner drum by pushing down on the edges where the back meets the wall.
(3) Overloading the machine. Put less in

What is the best way to quiet machine during spin cycle?

if the washer is very noisy in spin mode its likely the drum bearings have worn out,,,try this out first
open the washer door and get hole of the drum at the top ,,now lift it up a little if there is a lot of lift and it drop with a knock when you let it go this is the bearings worn out,,also spin the inner drum with your hand if it makes a grumbling noise its bearings

Loud squealing sound during spin cycle

Possibly a foreign article stuck inside the drum. When the machine goes onto spin this can rub against the outer drum causing such a sound.

This is commonly the underwire from a bra that has worked loose and lodged in one of the holes inside the inner drum. Have a careful feel round the whole inner surface of the drum to see if you can detect anything protruding. If you find a wire, grip it with a good pair of pliers and try to pull it out, remembering the shape that it probably has so it will need to be coaxed out accordingly. Anything protruding through the holes doesn't belong there!

I have removed three of these from our washing machine!

Washer makes loud knocking noise

I think that the drum bearings have gone on the machine..

To open the door and spin the empty drum quickly by hand and you should hear the noise or say a less amplifed one.. You can also move the inner drum up and down to see if there is something wrong with it..

Kenmore 94802 washer belt overheats, smokes, and melts

sounds like perhaps the trannsmission has locked up and is not spinning freely, therfore the belt is meeting resistance and not turniing.( try turning the trans. pullley( where the bsck of belt is wound)does it turn freely??? try turning the tub from inside does it spin at all??? before i condemn the tranny i would check for article of clothing fallling between the tubs, holding from spinning, also ive seen (nails/screws/bra underwires,etc..) poke through onr of the holes with in the tub abd stuck to the outer tub also preventing the tub from spinning, look closely to all the inner basket holes!!!

Screw or change stuck inside tub

only 3 ways to do this 1)take your sump hose off under the washer place your fingers on the inside of the washer and turn the drum slowly but watch your fingers the inner drum will act like a cheese grater i know this due to doing it myself and only once 2)got to strip it down totally but this is a big job m8 3)leave for a while it will find itself to the sump hose but this could damage your inner drum by tearing the side

Maytag Washer Noise While Spinning

Most washer models have snap-clips holding the front of the top panel down, with hinge-like clips at the back. Carefully pry up the top panel on the front of the machine using a tool that won't scratch the finish, such as a plastic or wooden wedge. If it does not pop loose fairly easily, then carefully examine the back of the machine to see if this is a rare model that has screws holding down the top panel. (But really, it _should_ just pop loose.) Once the top panel is tilted up to expose the inside, you should be able to see everything you need to see inside the body to evaluate a spinning drum problem.

Drum sounds like it's rubbing against metal

hi there....sounds as if youve got a bra wire etc trapped between the outer and inner drum..open the appliance door and carefully examine the inner drum you will possibly see the offending wire protruding from some one of the holes in the drum...it can either be removed by juggling it out or having an engineer remove it for you regards Sir Galahad
