Problem with Maytag MHWE450WW front load Maytag washer. The washer door is locked and will not open. I tried several suggestions in the manual, but none work. Please help!!! My email address is [email protected] and my name is Antoinette Roy
First
make sure that nothing is blocking the drain pump assembly located inside the
bottom of the unit, after this test the door lock-switch assembly. If the door
lock-switch is also fine then the control board should be replaced. Hope this
helps...please post back for further assistance.
There are many reasons why the door may be jammed shut -
1. The water hasn't pumped out properly and the washing machine has a pneumatic door safety lock (a rubber hose connected to the door interlock and connected to a pressure chamber bottle on the tub - water forces air up this tube and locks the door) 2. Washing machine won't empty water 3. The water has pumped out properly, but a blockage of gunge inside the pressure chamber bottle is trapping the air that's operating the door lock (if a pneumatic lock is fitted - not many have these days due to cost cutting) 4. Door interlock jammed 5. Door catch, handle, or mechanism broken Try running Just the rinse spin cycle again,
Hello,
Unplug the machine. You can open the door by removing the lower panel and reaching inside and up towards the door lock. You will feel a small, round, plastic piece that is attached to the lock assembly. Pull it and open the door. Once open, plug the washer back in a try to see if it will allow a cycle to start again, AFTER you have removed your clothes. Thanks
Either the control board or the motor has gone bad. Here is the diagnostic mode to run to look for the errors.
The diagnostic test is performed by using the Program
Knob. To START THE TEST:
• On non-digital display models, turn the
Program Knob to start position, Drain/Spin.
• On digital display models, turn the Program
Knob to start position, Touch Up.
• Press Pause/Cancel to turn off LEDs.
• Within 5 seconds, press and hold the Option and
Pause Cancel buttons until LEDs start
sequentially chasing, then release buttons.
1. All the LEDs will sequentially light. Pressing a
button below a light cluster will light all the LEDs in
that cluster at one time to confirm functionality.
2. Turn the program knob (1) click clockwise from the
start position. The hot water solenoid will activate
and hot water should enter through the detergent
compartment.
3. Turn the program knob (2) clicks from the start
position. The bleach water solenoid will activate and
cold water should enter through the bleach
compartment.
4. Turn the program knob (3) clicks from the start
position. The bleach and the wash water solenoids
will activate and cold water should enter through the
softener compartment.
5. Turn the program knob (4) clicks from the start
position. The door lock solenoid will activate.
6. Turn the program knob (5) clicks from the start
position. The door lock solenoid will deactivate and
the loading door can be opened.
7. Turn the program knob (6) clicks from the start
position. The washer will fill and tumble.
8. Turn the program knob (7) clicks from the start
position. The washer will fill and spin (leakage test).
9. Turn the program knob (8) clicks from the start
position. The drain pump and door lock solenoid will
activate and the washer will operate in high spin.
SAFETY WARNING: If power is removed during this
test, the door can be opened. To prevent injury, DO
NOT put your hands inside when the tub is rotating.
10. Turn the program knob (9) clicks from the start
position. The control will signal the last error code.
Repost the error codes here.
Sounds like a blockage in the outlet pipes or filter. It may be possible to drain it if you can get the outlet pipe (one from back of machine) outside, lay it flat on the ground as this will take it below the water level in the machine and may slowly drain. Once it drains out enough the machine should disengage the door lock to allow you to open it. Then check your filter and pipes for blockage. If no blockage is found then suspect faulty pump.
Believe it or not.....its almost always the cloths ( heavy blankets) that one places inside. TRY:: In the spin cycle if the load is unbalanced the TUB will rock and make that "loose drum out of alignment" noise. STOP the machine and open the door ( IF IT IS A TOP LOADER ) realign the cloths (heavy or more then one blanket) so that it is EVENLY spaced through out the tub.Start the machine again. If it does it again, stop the machine and REALIGN the cloths (blanket !!) again. p.s. there is a simpler way of doing it but I don't want you to loose your hand in the process.
if there is nothing in pump replace it ,door will unlock when error code is fixed on 2nd person if its not your pump its your ccu board top rear ,to open door take off bottom panel 3 star screws put hand up inside under lid switch there is round plastic tab pull down while opening door its a release cloths "less soap plz "
take the top off the machine, put your hand down to the reigon of the door lock and by using a small screw driver the catch on the door can be forced open without doing any damage.
