If they are continuous vertical lines then I would assume you are using the document feeder. If this is the case then lift the cover and thoroughly clean the small narrow glass section on the left. If that does not help then shut the printer down by pressing and releasing the power button. After it is completely shut down, wait 30 seconds and turn it back on again. That should take care of any dirt issues or power fluctuations causing the lines. If you are still having issues and also getting those lines on regular print jobs, then check for excess ink in the paper path.

How do I get rid of the lines when I make copies. It dose not happen if I print a scan

If you are using the ADF ( automatic document feed ) for your copies, raise the scanner cover and clean the strip window to the left of the main platen. If you are using the platen for copies and getting lines where scans are clean - you have a physical issue and it should be checked out by a technician.

Copying problem

Hi,
could u plzz be more specific abt the line in the paper, i wish to know do u have the same issues if you are printing from the computer as well.

Try the following steps...

1) open the lid of the printer and clean the scanner glass

2) scan a document to the computer and check if you are getting the line even on the scanned image, if yes then its an issue with the printer

Facing copying problem from scanning section

Although you didn't specify the scanner model, this solution should work.

If the scanner has a top feeder, open it.

You will see a thin strip of glass, either to the left, or right of the large scanner glass.

There is most likely a small spec of ink, white out, etc on it.

Clean the strip glass with rubbing alcohol and the line should go away.
