What do I do to clear this code
SOURCE: DMR-ES40V Error Code F03
Hi,
If I may add to JoshOHoward's posting and with his indulgence.
The F03 (Fault 03) error indicates possible problem with your DVD's
mechanism, specifically the either the spindle or the transverse servo drive. This is the motor
and drive mechanism responsible for moving the carriage that contains
the optical reader/laser eye forward and backwards.
What perhaps you can try:
1. do a soft reset. With no disc, press and hold the power button for more than 10 seconds. Alternately, you can unplug the unit for an hour or so.
2. Do a force initialize. With no disc inside, eject the tray, close the tray simultaneously pushing on the back skip, pause and play buttons
3. Do a full hard reset. With the unit powered off, press and hold the Stop and Channel Up buttons while powering on the main unit at the same time for about 5 seconds.
If the above does not prove to be corrective of your concern, pls post back since further diagnosis/repairs require opening the unit.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FIXYA.

I saw this same issue. I would unplug and plug in the DVD and it would still show error code F03.
It turns out that one of my kids had shoved a couple of small objects inside the VHS opening and it was blocking the operation. I removed the objects and it works fine.
This error code is not listed in the manual that came with the DVD player.
