Os versin 2.4

I used ti connect to update the the os and it failed. now i cant use the calculator. when i turn it on it says "Waiting ... please install os now" i tried taking the batteries out for the whole night and it still wont work. also my computer dosent reconize my calculator with ti connect

    same here, happened today. I'm also confused which usb cable is for the ti 84. I have two black usb cables and one has the bulky thing on the cable and the other one is more flexible and doesn't have the bulky thing.

    i have the same problem but when i go to download it it come up with this error message. "USB Communication error: unexpected packet". now what do i do?

I have the same problem but your solution didn't work. when i press download it came up the the following error message. "USB communication error: unexpected packet". now what do i do?

First of all: the usb cable without the bulky thing is the right cable.

For the os problem: you have to re-install an OS on your calculator.

1. Download the current OS. You can download version 2.41 here: http://education.ti.com/educationportal/appsdelivery/download/download.jsp

2. Install the ti connect software if you haven't.
3. Connect your calculator to your pc.
4. Go to the folder you installed ti connect in and start TIOS Downloader.
5. Follow the instructions. It will ask for the calculator type, cable type (just choose USB Cable) and will ask where to find the OS. Follow the last instructions and press start download.

Texas instruments TI-83 Plus won't turn on. I have replaced the AAA batteries.

Hello,

Check that the batteries are correctly inserted.
The screen may be too light to see anything.
To darken it
Press [2nd] key and release it.
Press and HOLD [UpArrow] till it darkens enough.

If that does not solve the problem here is what the TI Knowledge base has to say. Please read till the end. I hope it helps.

For the TI-83 Plus Family, TI-84 Plus Family:

Caution: The resets described in these troubleshooting steps will cause a loss of applications, programs and data. If at all possible please create a backup using TI Connect™ first.
  1. Try a new set of AAA batteries.
  2. Adjustthe contrast by pressing and releasing the [2nd] key followed by pressing and releasing the up arrow; repeat as necessary. To adjust or lighten the display, use the down arrow.
  3. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [CLEAR] key. While holding [CLEAR],reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display the message "RAM Cleared". Release the [CLEAR] key and then press it one more time to remove the message.
  4. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [DEL] key. While holding [DEL], reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. Screen displays small horizontal line when powered on that quickly fades away. Have changed batteries. When I do a reset (take one battery out, push delete while putting it back), the screen displays...

My TI-84 Plus Silver edition will not turn on. I have tried new batteries and everything, but it just does not turn on. Is there a way to reset it or something although the calculator does not turn on?

Wont turn on when new batteries were installed

Hello,
It is likely that the calculator is ON, but the screen is too light to enable user to see anything. If that is the reason, you can darken the screen.
Press the [2nd] key and release it. Press and hold the UpArrow till screen darkens enough.
If that does not work, here is what the Texas Instruments Knowledge Base says about the calculator not turning on.

TI 84 won't turn on. New batteries installed. TI Connect recognizes device and I installed new OS. Brightness is not the issue. Any suggestions? This is one of student's calculators. Thank you.

I cant do anything on my calculator.....when i turn it on it says "waiting... please install calculator software now." When i press the "on" key, it says, "ERROR! Press any key to turn the unit off. Then...

i've got a similar problem...my ti 84+ doesn't turns on anymore...reseting device didn't change anything. the ti-support wasn't that big help..
but its right, how to communicate with a calculator, that doesn't want to get turned on!??!.
